Baking type books please

Lady Falafel, 18 September, 2008 at 18:51 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 7

Now that the nights are drawing in, I want the oven to be on and the house filled with cake and buns. I've been dabbling a bit with cake and pastry over the summer and none of it has been inedible, so I think it's time to splash out on a proper book.

HTBADG seems an obvious contender - is it really an essential? Any others? I'm more of a Nigel Slater type than a Delia, so nothing too fernickety would be best.

Indeed - HTBADG is all i can recommend. I don't have any others, and haven;t really needed any, though i do get a lot of recipes from my mum, that aren't in any books i know of.

Excellent. Does it have savoury baking in there too, or just cakes?

    Do, you won't regret it!

? The list? No, that was over three weeks this summer, to give me a challenge. I have 35 pages (size 10 font too so loads crammed in) of excel printed out. It's bloomin' handy though as I can just look at the relevant section then go straight to a page of a recipe book which has something I fancy.
