Bali or Borneo??

sc2347, 2 September, 2011 at 21:33 Posted on Honeymoons & Getting Married Abroad 0 7

Hi,

Just looking into our honeymoon for next May and we are considering 3 nights in Hong Kong followed by 11 nights in Bali or Borneo. Has anyone been to either Bali or Borneo? Any advice appreciated!

TIA ?

I spent 2 and a half weeks in Borneo for my first marriage honeymoon. What do you need to know?

We spent 2 nights in a decent hotel, then 3 nights roughing it in the jungle, 1 night in a cheap hostel, 4 nights at the rainforest lodge, 1 night up Mt Kinabalu and 5 nights at a luxury resort (my least favourite part of the trip!)

Thanks Mrs H, did you find it too hectic after your honeymoon? I'm worried that it might be too busy and we should have some more time just for relaxation rather than trecking around in the Jungle!

Why was the luxury resort your least favourite bit?

Borneo is amazing, you should definately go. I spent 3 months out there a few years back at the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre and they do brilliant work - you're guaranteed to get sightings of the orangutans when they feed and there's always very friendly rangers to answer questions etc.

There's plenty to do in Sabah as well so you wouldn't get bored (River cruises to see wild monkeys etc). We stayed at the Shangri-La Rasa Ria resort (near Kota Kinabalu) which is an amazing place and definately worth the time there for relaxation!!
