I was just wondering what your thoughts are of balloons as decorations at a wedding? I am undecided if I like the idea or not, so what do you guys think?

Would "the type" be the more budget concious couple? I would love a starlight dance floor, a draped ceiling and other types of expensive decorations but when your budget is only £2k, they're out of the question. I don't think our balloons make us less classy than others, just poorer ?.

Having said all that, our balloons are also birthday balloons because its only an evening party and its for OH's 50th as well as our wedding so they are the easiest way to bring in both events.

Imho, if you love balloons and want them then have them and ? to anyone who says you shouldn't. If you would rather have something else, then have that - your wedding, your rules x

I love balloons, am cutting back elsewhere so that we can have the big bubblegum/confetti balloons Smiley smile If you love them, go for it, sod what anyone else thinks. Would you change your mind about a dress because someone else didn't like it? It's your wedding (and your OH!), do what makes you guys happy.

I'm so sorry I didn't mean to cause offence and that came out really badly. I honestly didn't mean it the way it sounded! I am one of those brides on a low budget!! Believe me we have struggled every step of the way and have had to borrow a hell of a lot of money from the family to finish everything in time, we gave ourselves a short time scale as my nan has cancer and has been a huge part of my life so wanted to get married while she was still around. The hotel I worked in was a higher end hotel, there were alot of very classy weddings so I guess anyone probably like myself who couldn't afford alot seemed cheap comparison. The 'type' of person who seemed to have balloons while i was working there were always the louder 'gobby' type of person. but it's probably just that i remember them for being gobby! I shouldn't have said it though as it's really not like me to be judgey of anyone. I've had a really bad day with falling out with my OH's brothers new girlfriend who has caused a lot of friction within the family and who managed to ruin my hen do over the weekend, and his brother (who is also best man) has been completely useless with his duties and has caused a few arguements between me and my OH today

    Sorry again

I'm not offended and I suppose I can be a bit 'gobby' ? lol

I understand the stigmar attached to balloons but I think people should have what they want regardless!

I originally was not that fussed for balloons, and had it been up to me, we wouldnt be having any..

But the H2b's mum feels like she's being a bit left out (or that's how it seems) and had asked him about balloons and he said he wasnt sure, so she went ahead and bought some, they actually look ok, but our theme is black and white so I suppose you cant go too wrong with black and white balloons, just not for every table. Then again, my reception is in a bowling club so it wont look too naff (i hope!) xx

Hate them with a passion. Marginally less than fake flowers.

Can be a cost effective way to decorate a venue but needs to be tastefully done
