Balloons

ExpensiveBlueConfetti486, 2 February, 2016 at 20:12 Posted on Planning 0 13

Hey,

I was just wanting people's advise. I am getting married next year and I am looking to use giant balloons with tassels as my wedding decorations. Has anyone used balloons or seen them at weddings? What do people think of using balloons at weddngs? How much do you think I would have to pay?

Thanks in advance

I don't know cost, but we briefly looked at balloons.

However, it didn't work for us as we were going to give each table a different colour so it would have looked weird.

Pinterest has a lot of balloon centrepiece ideas if you wanted to take a look, and my brother had a balloon arch at his reception Smiley smile

My venue said they don't allow those big balloons (not sure why really, I didn't ask as we weren't thinking of having them!) but it's probably worth making sure you can have them before you go ahead.

We were told no balloons because sometimes they escape and set the security system off ? The big ones with tassels do look cool though!

Hiya, I've been looking at getting the word 'Love' spelled in the big letters in either silver or gold but need to check with the venue that this is okay!

I would just say go and speak to a party/balloon person as to the practicality of it, as I really liked the balloons with the tulle over them but having spoken to a friend of mine that runs a party shop and is a balloon specialist say that they don't actually last very long as the decorations/tulle is actually too heavy for the balloon for the balloon has to be really really big.

    I hope that helps a little. x

I LOVE those big balloons! I was looking at getting some for photos with my Bridesmaids and my groom based on Pinterest! I couldnt find anyone near by who did these though so have thought about ordering my own! I have ordered the giant LOVE letters but the venue wont even blow these up for me even if i provide the helium- so an extra job for an usher!

I used to work in a party shop and did balloon arrangements most of my days.

The actual balloon isn't the pricey bit its the helium. We had lots of customers buying cheap balloons online to save money then bringing it to us to fill. This isn't a great idea as if you buy it from the shop it ends up either less or the same price but if it bursts while there filling it (which happens a lot) they will just grab another one but if its from elsewhere you'll lose the money you paid for the gas which will be a lot.

I think it will cost a lot more then you would think for the big ones so check with a shop before deciding.

We didn't do the big balloons but latex balloons will bearly last a day. To prolong there life you'd need to add high float before blowing up.

I really want the big balloons myself especially the big gold love letter ones. I plan on having slightly bigger than normal balloons with confetti inside to my bridesmaid gift bags as it looks gorgeous. I was just going to buy ribbon or tulle myself to decorate them as they so expensive on website such as NotOnTheHighStreet. No idea where to get them from. I do know that Asda sell a helium tank with balloons for around £20 and fills up to 14 big balloons or 30 little ones.

I also have a huge phobia of balloons but thankfully have no children (just teens) coming, otherwise i'd be on eggshells. I mean I have a huge massive phobia of balloons popping so lets hope none explode haha. Must be mad to have them but they look lovely.

Be interested to see if anyone bought them and where from?

Definitely check with your venue and think about the logistics of setting them up! We had a giant white balloon (24 inches) per table and one extra giant (36 inch) for a prop. The balloons themselves were super cheap off Ebay (around £10 for all of them I think - and I did see some with tassles also), but we ended up having to order a helium tank (£30) to blow them up, as they were too big to blow up elsewhere and transport to the venue. Our venue was a pub/restaurant so they were fine to decorate the venue themselves and inflate the balloons on the morning of the wedding. However, they ran out of helium halfway through, using up what we had bought plus their emergency supply! They did manage to get extra bought in at the last minute but it was quite stressful for them. Also, not all venues will go to this much trouble for you!

There's always the option of ordering them through a supplier who will deliver them to the venue, which would be easier, but I imagine this will cost way more.

It is a strange phobia... However, there are many weird phobias.

We've ordered two giant balloons (38 inches) filled with confetti and with tassles for our wedding. Going to have them either side of the top table and also hopefully get some gorgeous photos with them. We are paying £91 which includes delivery and for the lady to set up and inflate at our venue. We can't get in before the morning as there is a wedding the day before so doing them myself wasn't an option. Our price does include an extra £15 delivery as we are outside of her free delivery catchment area. She covers notts/derbyshire and is Dottie Love Balloons if you're nearby x

There was another wedding at my venue that used balloons as centrepieces. They have the table numbers attached. I hadn't planned on using balloons but my mother told me yesterday that she randomly bought a helium tank so I might need to think about it.

And just because I think it's such a cute idea...They used pinwheels instead of bridesmaid bouquets.
