Bank Holiday Sunday (Easter) wedding...

CantwaittobeMrsDavies17, 23 of May of 2016 at 11:31 Posted on Planning 0 10

Hi everyone

Looking for advice on bank holiday Sunday weddings - and whether you know if suppliers charge more? The venue is the same cost as a Saturday....its also Easter Sunday we're potentially looking at and I'm debating whether that presents issues for people - any opinions??

I've got the list of the venue's preferred suppliers so was going to get an idea of costs/availability from them, and have asked the Registrar (assuming they work over Easter - the venue were confident they do!). We've got a provisional booking with the venue for 10 days.

thanks in advance!

We're booked for the May Day Bank Holiday Sunday next year - haven't found any suppliers more expensive than other dates.

Most suppliers we've met with just have set prices it seems, which works for us.

I would find it difficult to attend an Easter Sunday wedding. I usually go to Church in the morning and then have a big lunch with my family. I'd be more inclined to have it on the Saturday and then people have 2 days to recover! Smiley smile

    xx

We're getting married this Sunday which is a bank holiday weekend. Our registrar was the same price as a normal Sunday, although when I spoke to them recently they said they have now started to charge extra for new bank holiday Sunday bookings. I think it was about an extra £70.

None of our suppliers have been more expensive because of the day. I did find it difficult to find a florist that delivered on a Sunday so we've gone with a specialist wedding florist but their quote was around the same price as others that we'd had.

I'd be happy to attend a wedding on Easter Sunday.

I would check with your local registrar, as we had held a Sunday date at a venue & they were going to charge £800 for the registrar to attend (normally £500 for a Saturday) - so looks like the price varies by area.

Personally I'd be happy to attend a wedding on Easter Sunday, but I guess it depends on your guests & whether you think a lot of them would have other religious commitments for church services etc.

I can't comment on prices, but just wanted to say that I'd have no issues with coming to a Sunday Bank Holiday wedding, regardless of whether it was Easter or not.

If it works for you and you think most of your guests will be able to make it, then do it!

I'd have no issue going to a an Easter Sunday wedding, however, I know that some of my family are quite religious so would want a later ceremony so they can go to the church in the morning.

Another consideration is transport, as there will be limited public transport and I've usually found taxis charge more on bank holiday Sundays (Obvs this isn't an issue if your venue/ceremony/hotel are all the same place).

Also this isn't my opinion, but I have had friends/family grumble about people who have bank holiday weddings, as it effectively stops them going away for a long weekend somewhere of their choosing. Most still went, but at least one of them didn't attend the wedding, as they wanted a long weekend elsewhere.

Speaking as a wedding photographer I Personally don't charge any differently for Easter.

Here are a couple of ideas from some Easter weddings I have shot

Eggs with names piped on as place names

Buckets of eggs placed on the tables in the evening instead of sweetie table

We're getting married next Saturday (eek) which is Easter Saturday, we wanted Sunday but the registrar where we are (Birmingham) don't conduct weddings on Good Friday or Easter Sunday so worth checking.

We haven't found any price increases though being on bank holiday weekend.

We are also getting married this Saturday which is easter Saturday and have had no problem ms with suppliers or price increase, the only thing we had was the church, when we first approached the vicar he wasn't sure if it was possible and had to seek further advise, everything was ok in the end for us but if your thinking of a church wedding Easter Sunday may not be an option
