Bank holiday sunday weddings

6 April, 2016 at 18:18 Posted on Planning 0 9

Hi everyone

Just wondering if anyone has been married on a bank holiday sunday and how to supplier prices compare to a regular friday or saturday wedding? Venue wise we are going to be paying the same as a friday but im sure i seen a post on here about registrar fees being alot more compared to a friday, so was wondering if thats the same for other suppliers too?

We are getting married on a bank holiday Sunday in 7 weeks! For our registrar we paid the regular Sunday price which was £425, although when I called to pay the balance last week they did mention that they now charge £495 for new bookings on a bank holiday Sunday. We booked about 18 months ago but I think it cost around £50 more than a Saturday and £100 more than a Friday.

None of our other suppliers have been more expensive because of the day. We did find that a lot of florists don't deliver on a Sunday so we've gone for a specialist wedding florist, but this was around the same price as quotes I'd had from other florists.

I've been invited to a wedding on a bank holiday Monday, and I know they received a significant discount. I'm not sure about Sundays though. As others have mentioned, some suppliers' fees may be higher since they may not normally work on Sundays. A large part of why venues give discounts on Sundays is because the day is less desirable since guests would have to get up for work the next day, or take a day off. Since this is obviously not an issue on a bank holiday Sunday you may find that the venue charges the same rate as they would for a normal Saturday night.

Yeah, one of the first questions we asked our venue was if a bank holiday Sunday was the same price as a usual Sunday. Luckily for us it was, as it's a lot less than they charge on a Saturday!

We're getting married on a Bank Holiday Sunday and nobody has really cared lol

Most Vendors are giving us Saturday pricing, I think, although a lot just have set prices regardless of day Smiley smile

I don't recall the registrar being any more expensive for us

We are getting married on a bank holiday Tuesday (27th of December). We are paying the usual Tuesday prices for things but have had to go with artificial flowers as getting fresh was turning into an expensive nightmare!

That sounds fab, it's great that you get so much included with your venue. As we get closer to ours I'm grateful that everything included in the package is one less thing to have to sort out!

What date do you have in mind if you don't mind me asking?
