Best Man gift - having trouble with wording!

I'm after some inspiration! We are getting our BM an engraved plectrum for his guitar but can only put 40 letters on it and I'm not sure what to go with;

Best Man,our names (which are 10 characters),Date

Thank you for being our Best Man, date but no names or names but no date

BM name, our Best Man, names and date

I'm stuck as to which would be best or whether even to just put our names and the date and no mention of the best man bit at all!!

TBH I wouldnt include your two names. It's not very 'cool' on a cool gift!

What about: 'The Best Man for the job! Date'

Personally, and I may be in the minority here, I don't really like seeing 'Best Man' engraved on something. I agree you should give a gift, and I think it's prefereable if that gift is a keep-sake type gift like the one you've chosen, but I think the recipient will *know* what he did, and how special he was. I love to see the date as a little reminder. Possibly 'thank you' if there's space...but that's all. Keep it simple, I reckon ?.

I *think* we're getting our best man a Mont Blanc pen and having it engraved with the date...See how the budget is looking nearer the time. Not having ushers or bridesmaids so it'll be the only gift so should be fine ?.
