Birmingham Jewelry Quarter recommendations

Sambarine, 4 of February of 2015 at 21:18 Posted on Planning 0 8

After months of nagging, on Saturday we're taking the train to Birmingham, in hopes that we'll find h2b's ring! I already have my ring, but he is looking for a Russian wedding band or Turkish puzzle ring. Although there are lots of jewelers in Manchester, he likes the idea of going to the jewelry quarter. Does anyone have any recommendations for shops in the jewelry quarter? I'd quite like to look into getting him a custom design, so a range of shops and makers to check out would be ace. Thanks in advance!

I can highly recommend Quarterstone. It's quite a bit of a walk down Warstone Lane, up a narrow flight of stairs. They specialise in custom designs. They made me this in 18ct white gold and diamonds for less than £1,500!

I highly recommend Victoria James. They made me the most beautiful bespoke ER and WR to compliment. A lot of their designs are quite Art Deco but they really can do anything.

But take your time in strolling around, there are some beautiful shops and nice places to eat.

We got ours from Neweys-thought id need bespoke but didnt as their range was huge. Mine had 1/2 carat diamonds so was obviously not cheap but far cheaper and better quality than local/high street jewellers we had visited.

OH has a plain 9ct band but HUGE as he has big hands ( high st doesnt stock his size) and was only £150.

so yes, providing you are realistic with what you want, you can do it on that budget.

I'm not mad on jewellery, just a few nice things. Wanted extra special wedding band, not necessarily caked in diamond, but decent. My engagement ring is high street though and I love it.

I would expect OHs ring will be cheaper than yours-assuming he doesnt want diamonds! So probably not £300.

So you will save on his allowing you to use more towards yours id say.

My engagement ring is from Neweys and so beautiful I can highly recommend them. My OH said that when he went into pick it they were really helpful too, and compared to other jewlers were well priced. It's only one of two that have been made so I am sure your OH could find something that is bit more unique if that's what he wants.

The JQ has some beautiful places and I have never heard anything bad about any of them, but some will charge a fortune so just have a budget in mind and look around.
