Black Cabs for wedding transport

I had a white cab, but through a wedding car hire company. It was £250 for 3 hours irrelevant of the distance.

Can you get the number of a black cab driver and book him closer to the time? Maybe have an executive car company on standby just in case?

Not sure about London, but a few of the mini cab companies round my way (Sheffield) will hire a clean and shiny hackney cab (black or white) with suited and booted driver, and ribbons if you want them. and will book in advance. It was more expensive than booking a normal taxi for the journey (£35 for a 45 minute journey) but still cheaper that anything else I found. Only reason I didn't book it was we needed to transport 4 of us and we didjn't fancy anyone going backwards for 45mins!!

I don't know about London, but calling some of the smaller taxicab firms around us, they've agreed to a fixed fee for 4 hours with a minibus to ferry our guests wherever they want, and then just come back and wait for the next guests.

We've stipulated a 20 minute round trip maximum journey, because we think thats the fairest way to our guests and should be reasonable to get to local hotels.
