black shadows and milia on eyes

MayDay, 8 April, 2008 at 20:38 Posted on Planning 0 10

I have terrible black shadows under my eyes and something called 'Milia' which are tiny white spots. Anyone got any good product advice for dark shadow (treatment not make-up). I have 13 months till I get wed and want my shadows gone before the big day..help!

    I have EXACTLY same problem!!

My wedding is in feb next year, so less than year away and trying things now!

My mum is beauty therapist, and says that for the Milia, when you are cleansing etc, make sure you massage the area really well. Its caused by trapped Sebum under skin, so massage should 'break it down' to get it absorbed again. (hopefully there are beauty therapists that can come on and verify what I'm saying!)

As for the black shadows, i went to Bobbi brown cosmetic counter to get make over and bought the hydrating eye cream she used. only been 2 weeks and it takes longer to see effects, but feel a bit different.
There is also a benefit product, eyecon that seems to be quite good too.

    HTH?

Someone recommended the Estee Lauder advanced eye repair night cream, and I do think my dark circles are better than they were - I've been using it since January every night, and when I remember in the mornings!! But its one of those things thats quite hard to tell!

And one thing to add - in your wedding pics if you use a light reflecting product like YSL under eye you may end up with a reverse panda effect, with a white circle round your eye due to flash photography!

    Hello.
I spoke to my beauty therapist today and she's given me some samples of Dermalogica eye cream. However, she also recommended massaging the eye area but also old tea bags (soaked in boiling water, no milk and then left to cool)...says there is something in tea leaves that helps...sounds like a (cheap) plan to me!!

With the melia, she says there are some places that remove them...small surgical knife and they 'pop' the serum out but said that personally she wouldn't recommend. especially as mine are so close to the eye!!

    I'm putting the kettle on.....

    Hi

I suffer with the milia problem too around my eyes also and I get rid of them by 'operating on them' using a sterilised needle I pick a little hole and push the white little bit out, it heals up in a couple of days, I'm not suggesting you do it too but it works well for me, I'm planning to do mine soon (only 7 weeks to go)a little project for my other half as he likes doing it!!!

I also 'operated' on a milia below my eye. well my mum did actually, soo painful, but it needed to go. ive been left with a teensy little scar like a little hole in my skin, that hasnt changed in the seven years since. if you can put up with it being there, definitely try massaging, i wish i'd have known that would have helped, but mine was huge about 3 mm across so was really noticeable.

Oooh that just reminded me of when I was about 7 I had a build up of Milia spots by the side of my eye, the doctor recommended popping it there and then in the surgery as he thought it was about 30 in one lump!? and it scarred me too looks like a chicken pox scar but not as noticeable now but then I dont get scars popping one at a time

aaah now I was told by a Doctor that it is caused by being badly sunburnt as a child and its a build up of oil in the skin, not sure if this is the case but thought I would say in case it is true.........

If you are getting Milia around your eyes it means that whatever eyecream you are using is too rich and is blocking the skin. The skin around the eyes is the thinnest piece of skin on the entire body - as thin as tissue paper. Because of this it gets congested very easily.
    Swap to something lighter.
