Booking a venue

Our venue was very upfront with the situation - what they will or will not offer re: rescheduling and the costs involved and this was a huge factor in us picking this venue! I think the main issue with rescheduling is finding a date you like (e.g. if you want a Saturday, these might all be fully booked). I think you should definitely talk to them about what they can offer, but 2021 and 2022 are busy years for venues so there may not be much room to negotiate in terms of them needing your booking!

I had a minimum number (15) built into my contract with the wording that should restrictions not allow that minimum we could reschedule for any available date into perpetuity free of charge. Also had the wording that the reschedule would cover any event ie if we had to have a small wedding because of restrictions we know we could hold a christening reception, anniversary party or even a kids party for that minimum or add further attendees.
Plus we paid with a credit card - our venue coordinator was extremely helpful in giving us this flexibility so we’d feel comfortable booking.

We are due to marry April 2021 and are so excited!
