Border Restrictions

Cat, 12 February, 2021 at 11:00 Posted on Honeymoons & Getting Married Abroad 0 1
Hello fellow brides,
My fiancé and I are in a real conundrum. We had our original wedding date for 50 people in September of 2020. This was to take place in my home country. Due to covid, we postponed the wedding to April 2021, thinking things would be better by then. But since then everything is getting worse and worse. Because we can’t travel there right now, we decided to do a micro wedding in the UK instead as we both live here, which we’re hoping to have take place in May of this year. The big problem is, both of our families live abroad in red list countries and we’re coming to the realization that they will very likely not be able to attend. Due to personal plans, we are not willing to postpone again (at least not more than a couple of weeks/ a month), but that would mean not having any of our loved ones with us on the most important day of our lives and we are really struggling thinking if we’re doing the right thing and how not to hurt them by continuing ahead without them. Is anyone else on the same boat and how are you coping with the situation/ planning around all of these crazy restrictions? Any advice would be most welcome!!

    Hi Cat,

I'm in a very similar situation to you. Supposed to be getting married in Italy in August and travel restrictions are making it look more and more unlikely that things will be able to go ahead as planned. I'm so sorry you have already had to postpone and are now facing this issue again. Could you carry on with the micro wedding and then postpone the bigger celebration with your family for next year? That way, you will be married which seems like is the most important thing for you right now and then you will be able to look forward to proper celebrations restriction free just how you had planned? I am sure your family will understand how difficult the situation is and that you have to do what is best for you.
Let me know how you get on ?Xx
