boudoir TOG recommendations- updated, have now booked, eek!

I-go-by-many-names, 1 of December of 2014 at 20:51 Posted on Planning 0 20

So I've been thinking about this for a very long time and have decided that I will go and get some boudoir photos done. I've lost well over a stone since the engagement and it will be a treat for my groom on our wedding day. The problem is, I have started researching and keep coming across some truly AWFUL and downright sleazy pictures. I would love to have tasteful pictures in some nice bridal underwear, we don't do kinky (no offence to anyone who does)! So would anyone be able to recommend a TOG in either the west Yorkshire or north east regions please? I'd also prefer if they can do my hair and makeup, I've never been that good at making myself look glam.

Cheers dears x

Hiya h2b does boudoir and other none family orientated photography. Check out Ricky Rees photography on Facebook. You can see a range of what he's done on there. No hair and make up though! Oh we're based in Leeds.

I had a shoot done at a place in Bramley, Leeds which included hair and make-up. Check out https://www.facebook.com/boudoirsuperstar. I can send you some photos from the shoot if you're interested in seeing what they're like but don't know if I'd be allowed to post them on here! ?

    Should

Yes I have seen them but because it is only £19 I thought the prints would be really expensive so I didn't pursue it. Can I ask how much you paid for yours and if they let you have the digital copies? Also, I'd lov e to see your photos! I think you can email me through hitched x

I'm a professional wedding photographer in Leeds. I recommend Cat Hepple and Mike Lester for boudoir. Mike has a studio at Garforth and specialises in boudoir.

I'm not sure exactly how much I paid now but I got two prints and a leather bound album and all in it was about £400. The majority of the cost was the album. It's beautiful. I didn't get any digital files. I'll try and e-mail you through here with the scans from the album.

Thanks Paula, I have looked at both of these briefly. I can't find any pricing info on Mikes website so I've emailed him. I don't have Cat hepple money! Her photos are amazing but that's just way out of my budget I'm afraid.

Thanks also to Melancholie, your photos are really good! I will be contacting the company today to see if I can get booked in early next year.

Hi dear, I remember 2 girls from my previous job used Peter Lane (google or Pinterest Peter Lane Photography) and they were totally thrilled with the photos. They did it in London, he hired a fancy victorian style house for them.

    Good luck xx

OK so I think I'm going to book Mike Lester but I'd like some advice if possible. I nearly booked boudoir superstar but they didn't get back to me until Friday afternoon and by that time Mike had called me and when I said I was going to book with the other company he made me an offer. He is going to give me all the images, it will probs be over 100, on a DVD so I can print them myself plus 12 of those will be fully edited/airbrushed for £360. I would prefer that to buying an expensive album that might get lost or damaged. If I have the digital files I can in theory have them forever. I dont like his pictures as much as boudoir superstar and it would mean i have a man taking the photos which isnt ideal but I think it sounds like a good deal. Boudoir superstar charge £500 for the same so its quite a big difference in price. Any thoughts?

Sadly this is all too true for some suppliers who don't understand true boudoir......

I know Mike (as a fellow photographer) and am familiar with his work. I'd rather have him than the other company, even if they were the same price.

Normally, I would not even entertain being photographed by a man (for boudoir) but Mike really is good at it, he's not one of the sleazy pervy guys who target the boudoir market.

I have been doing Boudoir for years and what I tell clients when asked is you don't show any more than you show on a beach. There are too many people doing Boudoir and doing it badly so please be careful who you choose. My prices for the files are more than double his so you have a bargain.

Thanks for the advice. Mike does do nude and partially nude but he said on the phone I don't have to do that and most of his clients wanting bridal boudoir tend to stick to all in ones such as Basques, corsets and camisoles/sexy nighties.

These are easy to pick out....they use a cameraphone instead of a DSLR?

On a serious note, on this type of photography, pick an established photographer, male or female. And for your own peace of mind, take a sister or friend along.

There you go, you decide what you want from the shoot and don't feel pressured in to something you don't feel comfortable with.

I'm so indecisive! I was all ready to book Mike this morning then I've gone the other way again and gone for Boudoir Superstar. They have a special offer on, £500 for all images on disk and edited if needed. This is more expensive than Mike, but I just really preferred their pictures. Mike sent me a few more of his over email and I thought some of them looked a bit tacky and more 'porn' than 'boudoir,' and I think I will just feel a lot more comfortable with an all female team. So now I'm looking forward to my boudoir shoot in January! Excited and nervous all at the same time!

Thanks again to everyone for all your help and advice.

The main thing is that you feel comfortable - I can't wait for mine in April, although I have the luxury of having worked with the TOG before, so I have that little extra confidence going in to it.

You will love it - a little bit of nervousness is good, but there will be a mass of excitement on the day and you won't want the session to end! Get on pinterest and look for bridal boudoir photos and you will get loads of ideas if you want them.

    Enjoy Smiley smile

Everything kimiu just said above is true, you will love it and wont want to leave. We have a lot of people coming back for another shoot a year later, one client has been coming back every year for the past 5 years? Just relax and enjoy the shoot, oh and don't wear anything tight the day before your shoot.
