Bra experts - 34FF

jelly baby, 21 January, 2009 at 15:29 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 11

I've just been fitted as a 34FF (Freya brand) but looking around on the internet it appears that a lot of manufacturers don't actually do a FF cup and go straight from F to G.

So, should I order a G cup if they don't make a FF or is that going to be too big ? I'm confused.

Oh fantastic, that will help a lot. I hadn't realised Freya were linked with Rigby & Peller.

But why do they hurt so much? The bones in the middle dig into my breastbone to the point it feels bruised?.

Fantasie are another good brand and they do an FF.

Cleo, who SO wishes that she didn't (need to) know that.

Fantasie is also part of the same group. A correct fitting bra shouldn't hurt or dig in, the middle part ideally should sit flat against your chest but it does depend on the design of the bra. I find personally as a e cup that my middle bit never lies flat in balconette bras, I blame my post children boobs?

I find that wadding up a bit of tissue paper and inserting under the wired bit cushions it slightly and not wearing the same bra two days in a row helps with the healing!

The Freya bra digs in at the breastbone, so the next day I rotate and wear the Ele McPhearson (sp?) one, the bones on that are ok, but the shoulder strap is made of the narrowest bit of ribbon which tries to support a F cup bosom, so the straps cut into my shoulder. The next day I'll wear my Fantasie one which rubs the area by my armpit and has turned it an attractive shade of brown. Finally I come to the wonderbra type push up one whose brand I can't remember which is great for giving me cleavage up to my chin, but feels like I'm slowly having the air squeezed out of my lungs so tight is it. Then it's back to the Freya one!

    Why can't bras be comfortable?

I was measured recently (before becoming pg for the 3rd time). I've been uncomfortable in any bra since my 2nd baby, despite being properly fitted each time.

The fitter looked at me and said it's because my rib cage has 'pushed out' - and if I look at myself sideways on I can now see that it is tilted up and out slightly. Apparently this often happens during late pregnancy, especially if you're short bodied. But with most people it goes back again, I'm just unlucky that it hasn't. So now I never seem to be able to find anything that will sit flat, because I'm not flat there myself. This is a right pain with a 32E chest. However in the end in desperation I went to Rigby and Peller and they sold me a couple of bras - not Freya - which felt a lot more comfortable. They seem softer and more flexible but still give support.

They told me that no bra should leave red marks or hurt, you just have to keep looking until you find something that works.

Gosh, I can't believe some of you persevere with such uncomfortable bras. I have to say thought that I am now relieved that I am not contending with underwiring - it appears to be the only advantage of having buy "lovely" nursing bras.
