Bridal shops with unusual dresses: London/Herts area (ideally!)

alabastamasta, 10 October, 2013 at 15:11 Posted on Planning 0 19

Hey guys

So I am stuck. I think I like 2 different styles of dress, but have only been able to find the more 'conventional' style in local stores that I can try on and before I commit to anything, I'd like to try on some more unusual ones. I've contacted a couple of places that stock Ian Stuart and Terry Fox, but I was wondering if anyone had any experience of places I could try? I'm looking at this kind of thing:

These are both Ian Stuart; just love all the different textures going on Smiley smile

Thanking you! Smiley laugh

If you have a healthy budget Vivienne Westwood may be worth a look http://www.viviennewestwood.co.uk/bridal/

Soo pretty - I doubt I can afford them, but I would like to try on a more unconventional shape before I commit to anything - you never know, right? Smiley tongue

Not sure about specific designers but luellas in wimbledon village do lots of lovely non conventional dresses. You can find which designers they stock on their website I think

Ian Stuart is the main one I can think of, I tried on this Benjamin Roberts dress when I was dress shopping which has a similar feel. But it's taken me ages to track it down on google so not sure if it's stocked anywhere or if it's older stock.

Not necessarily in your area but Donna Salado does some similar ones. http://donnasalado.com/Collections.html She has a shop here in Northampton and she will design for you.

Ooh yes! I walk past a shop on Hastings street, near Euston and Kings cross they always have amazingly unusual dresses in the window. I think they do made to order designs for you too. Was planning to pop in this week to see how it works!

Let us know if you go what its like!!! Smiley smile

Oooh, do you mean House of Tammam? I love Lucy's dresses, but as they are all organic silk, they are WAY out of my budget Smiley sad
Go see her though, she's lovely Smiley smile

Have you considered having it made? It isn't as expensive as some assume.
