Bride entrance music in a church

nemi, 27 June, 2011 at 13:14 Posted on Planning 0 13

Hi everyone,

I'm really struggling to find a good song to walk down the ailse to. I HATE the bridal march so that is out and I want something classical but not too dreary or depressing and with no words.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

What's your theme/colours? When's the date of your wedding?

All the above might give some inspiration to us. Otherwise it's just a list of random bits of classical music Smiley smile

The date is May 12th 2012. There is no theme as such but the coilour scheme is ivory, burgendy and silver.

We are having a church wedding followed by a party in my fiances uncles garden with barn dancing and a hog roast. Hope this helps.

I had 'If ye love me' by Tallis. Beautiful piece and I liked the fact it wasn't something that you hear at most weddings.

Arrival Of The Queen of Sheba

    Ode To Joy

    The Flower Duet

All uplifting pieces that people will recognise. Youtube them to listen?

How about the Trumpet Voluntary? It can be played on most instruments not just trumpets (we're having it played on a harp for example). It's one of my favourite pieces of music.

What kind of music do you want? classical, traditional church, modern?

My OH said if we had to have something 'classical' we'd have to have the Imerial March from Star Wars (or at least Mars from the Planet Suite)!

For a different classical twist how about soemthing from Vivaldi's 4 seasons? Or something from Hoslt's Planet suite?

(Mind you, I'm walking up the aisle to Sharp Dressed Man by ZZ Top!)

There's a big list of music I've been asked to play over the last 18 months at https://www.celebratewithmusic.co.uk/recommendations.html - hope this helps you choose some for your iPod.

Always though I would have Pacabel's Canon but my best friend had that and I fell in love with "I Giorni" Takes a while to get to the good parts.

Chanson D'Amour (Elgar) - just heard it on Classic FM in the office and ben reminded how lovely it is. YouTube it

Re: Star wars Imperial March - I thought about this too!! Think we have similar classical musical tastes because I also like the Planets and am currently umming and ahhing over March of the Common Man (aaron Copeland)

    Good luck choosing

I'm having Jonathan Cain's version of the bridal march. Think it's far nicer than the original version!

Also looked at having an instrumental version of Elbow - One Day Like This x
