Bridesmaid dress colours

LouC, 20 of September of 2013 at 14:10 Posted on Planning 0 10

Hi!

Just wondered if I could please have an opinion?

Is it wierd for the bridesmaid dresses to be the same colour as my dress (ivory)? Their's is 3/4 length, with a different neckline... ??

I don't think so - others may disagree!

I think my BMs and FGs may well end up in the same colour as me - haven't got that far yet though!

No not at all. I have seen quite a few pretty weddings where the bridesmaids have been in ivory. What they have done though is added pops of colour elsewhere e.g flowers, decorations.

This is actually very traditional. If you look at old wedding photos the bridesmaids and the bride will all be in white/ivory.

It's pretty unusual nowadays but i think it's been making a come back since more neutral shades became popular again. A wedding I went to recently had bridemaids in ivory, they were actually tea legnth wedding dresses from the high street and it looked very pretty. My personal view is the to pull this off the bridesmaids need to be in very plain dresses and the bride definitely needs the total wow factor.

I don't think it is weird, as LEN11212 said it appears to be making a come back the moment, I'm sure I've seen bridesmaids dressed like this on quite a few wedding programs recently ;-)

I had a quick search on Pinterest and there are lots of pretty examples of bridesmaids in ivory dresses which might put your mind at rest.

Here is one I thought looked really nice...

I think it is lovely! A splash of colour with flowers and shoes would work well also.

I don't think there's anything weird about it at all - it could look lovely! Like someone else said, you could add little pops of colour to their outfits such as a sash, shoes etc (which I think would work great) but I think that if their dresses are a different length it would work well anyway!

I like it. Think kate Middleton, her bridesmaid was in ivory!

It's not weird! Not for everyone sure but what is Smiley smile
My wedding dress shop actually posted a pic today of one of their brides and the BM's were in ivory.
Won't look weird at all so if you like it then go for that Smiley smile

My friend did this and it looked really pretty.

She only had her sister as an adult BM, the rest were little girls but it still looked really nice.
