Bridesmaid dress ideas- please flash me yours!

Bittersweet, 25 of February of 2011 at 17:56 Posted on Planning 0 25

As the thread says really- I have been looking at some lovely bridesmaid dresses the one below being my favourite by Dessy. The thing is i'm not sure how i feel about spending as much as £180 per dress. I only have 2 adult bridesmaids, but all the same i think it's a lot to spend.

Please could you give me some inspiration on what you are having for your bridesmaids- not fussed about the length really, but having a cappuccino colour.

Thanks in advance!

Just flashed mine but not shy about flashing them again

Perhaps you could ask the lady I used as she is great at re-producing dresses at a fraction of the cost but great quality

    Heres mine

heres the link to her ebay shop and Im sure she will be able to help

That's really lovely-the first thing I thought though was it's quite 'Coast'. Have you looked online? There's a small discount too at the moment on their dresses.

Failing that, I think Dessy dresses can differ in price shop to shop so worth checking around if you really love this one. We got ours from Coast - £35 each in the sale-bargain!

    Thanks Girlies!

Yeah i love the dessy one- but think i may have to take your advice and look to see if i can find the same dress cheaper in different shops near me.

It's harder because i have chosen an 'awkward' colour scheme to match! haha

I bought mine from Asos... they were a bargain at £36 each (I get student discount), very well made, properly lined and everything. You can search by colour on Asos and they have a very good returns policy.

I was reluctant to spend a lot so ended up buying one from Coast when there was a 20% off day (it cost about £96 including delivery) My BM found it so I knew she'd be happy to wear it...

    All lovely BM dresses ladies!

I'm getting mine made by a local seamstress working to the below pictures. Dresses will be in a slate grey and underskirts will be in a plum colour. Not including fabric they are costing £70 per dress and £15 per underskirt. I'm having 5 adult bridesmaids so couldn't afford 'proper' prices! x

    Thanks!

I literally rang up a local lady who does clothes alterations and asked her if she made simple bridesmaid dresses. Then just emailed her the pics and she came back with a price. Quite looking forward to going fabric shopping with my mam because I can lookout for exactly what I want! Kate x

Aargh, it's a nightmare isnt it!

These are the ones I really like, but really don't want to pay the asking price (around £180), I have 2 adult BM, a 15yr old and 2 flower girls to cater for, so way too expensive...I am umming and rring about the birmingham lady, who should be ok for the 2 adult BM but not sure on the fit for the 15yr. Am keeping an eye out on the high street at the moment!

The dress you like is gorgeous! Good luck in finding something!! x

This is my bridesmaids dresses, the only thing i will say about Dessy is make sure you actually have a look at the dresses before you stick to them, the colours are totally different to how they look on the website, heres a picture of one of my bridesmaids in the dress, ok its a size 16 and shes a size 8/10 but you get an idea, its also the colour Oasis, ignore her face, she'll be in for a shock on the day when shes got her hair and makeup done (shes not one for making an effort)

    The dress was £150

Thanks everyone- these are really great inspirational ideas!!

I love them all- what to choose!

Stupid lamb- thanks for the 'heads up' on marks and spencer- i love that dress!

Because our theme is ivory with mocha and cappucinno with accents of dusky pink- either a lighter or darker dress will go well.

    ?

Really appreciate all your feedback girlies!
