Bridesmaid dresses- autumnal theme. Please help! Pics

SaraPoppy, 26 November, 2014 at 14:00 Posted on Planning 0 10

Our wedding is next October and we are taking advantage of the autumn and centering our theme around that. I can't make up my mind about the colour of the bridesmaids dresses. They have gone from black, to champagne to grey and now I'm not sure any of those colours work. I want them to look formal and classic and worried a bright colour wouldn't suit this. I have had suggestions of purple and as much as I like the colour I have been to a lot of weddings where that is the colour scheme. I've already bought a few accessories for the bridesmaids so the dresses need to go with them. So far we have...

Gold bridesmaids shoes, mine are red and sparkly, red, orange and ivory umbrellas, and foam rose bouquets.

We are getting married in a tiny church in the middle of a field and having the reception in a barn. We want a rustic look rather than vintage and lots of candle light everywhere. I'm starting to panic as I'm not getting my vision across very well and I'm worried it's going to look awful. If anyone has any suggestions for bridesmaids dresses (preferably maxi length with lace sleeves) please can you point me in the right direction. I've seen a few on google but no idea where to actually buy them. I have 5 bridesmaids and they are paying for their own dresses as our wedding gift (there's a group of us that have done this for each other) and I'm not comfortable with them paying a ridiculous amount.

Please help! Thank you :-)

If those are the flowers you're going for I'd go for one of the colours in the bouquet. Maybe very dark red? We had an autumn wedding and had very dark red coloured BMs dresses. worked well with the flowers, which were similar colours to what you've posted. BHS did some dark red dresses not long ago although I don't think they are what you're looking for. If you have a specific style in mind it may be worth going to a bridal outlet and seeing if you can get something there.

If i'm honest I'm not a huge fan of purple particularly if you're going for an autumn feel (unless you're thinking of auberginey purple rather than Cadbury purple). Ivory would be nice too I think or gold...

I wouldn't worry about having a strong colour. I was very quite pleased with my red ones.

Red is my favourite colour but again I was sure I didn't want it as I've been to a few weddings with that colour scheme. However now it has been suggested it seems to have just clicked! Im thinking a berry red. That colour would suit all my bridesmaids. Thank you!!! Now the hunt for the perfect style begins :-) xx

Here are some dark red ones from BHS. They don't have mine anymore, but the top picture (of the model's head; where you can see a v neck with flowers round the middle) were my BMs dresses. The girls loved them and I know at least one has worn it several times.

Red is fairly easy to pull off and might come in handy for the BMs at a winter ball or so.

I'm getting married in November next year, it's taking place in a 17th barn attached to a hotel (lots of gorgeous beams etc). We're trying to avoid themes and colour schemes but by it being in Autumn we have naturally leaned towards the seasons colours etc.

My bridesmaids will be wearing long black dresses. For flowers (I havn't got these sorted yet) I ideally want sunflowers as they are my favourite flowers but if this isn't possible I will stay with that kind of colour - think it will stand out nicely against the black.

A dark red would also look lovely. I haven't got my dreses yet but my plan is stay stay high street - so Debenhams etc. ASOS have some lovely dresses too so that is worth a look. I plan on getting them in January time - potential of a January sales bargain! ?

    Hope that's some help! x

I'm also getting married in October and I really want my bridesmaids in grey. Something like this:

These aren't my bridesmaids just google randoms Smiley winking I think grey is really elegant and goes nicely with out autumn theme.

    These are the roses I love just so you have an idea what I'm talking about;

Ooh now I love the grey idea again. I've found the style that I love. But it's from etsy, shipped from America and it would seem they only do it in light pink colour. The girls love the idea of the dark red. Is it normal to question every decision a thousand times? I'm questioning my own dress to the point where I went to look at some others last week. I'm having stress dreams too!xx

Those are beautiful, do they not come in other colours? I think a lovely dark red would be beautiful for the time of year.

No. The lady said they only come in pink. I've searched for ages to find this style. Now I need to start again!xx
