Bridesmaid dresses - Greater Manchester/ online

Hi all,

Looking for some BM dresses advice please.

2 of my BMs are coming next weekend and we're gonna try and sort the dresses. My 3rd BM is in Australia and will be here later next month for a visit but the 4 of us can't all get together then.

I have appointments booked at 3 shops inc the one I got my dress from. My budget is £100 each but anything less would be a bonus. The style I want is short/ nothing too formal and a shade of blue that's not too dark or pale, I quite like cobalt. They don't even have to be actual BM dresses, I ordered a lovely batch from Dorothy Perkins but when they turned up, they were purple even though the name said blue!

I've got other dresses coming from Littlewoods/ Very and Isme but I don't think they're gonna fit the bill. I've scoured all the usual places people suggest, Monsoon, Coast, Asos, BHS, Debenhams but no joy. My smallest BM is a size 10, the next is 12/14 and the other a 20.

I previously tried an outlet in Bolton but they only have their short ones in dark blue and there's an outlet in Stockport but they only have long ones.

I've looked on websites like Queenie but I'm a bit wary of ordering a colour sample and then getting them made up using measurements. I'd like to see them on first.

I quite like the idea a floral, skater-style/ prom dress but seems to be the wrong time of year and lots are out of/ low stock.

Apologies for the essay and I probably sound a lot more fussy than I actually am! You never know, we might go into a shop on Sat and get sorted straight off - just wondered how others had got on?

I wore a Queenie bridesmaid dress a few weeks ago, custom made to sizes. Mine fit okay, needed it taken up as we got Evy's length added for some reason and waist taken in, but came to just under £100 with alterations. The colour didn't match the name, I.e was called royal blue but it wasn't royal blue at all, but it matched the colour on the website which is what you go on. Good luck!

In January me, my three bridesmaids and my mum all piled in the car and went to the Trafford centre (from leeds in redonkulous snow) looking for pretty much the same thing. I had a budget of £150/dress. We got the dresses from quiz, they look really chavvy on the hanger but lovely on! My bms range from a size 14-24/26. And while quiz only goes up to a 20 there was plenty of give in the material so we we able to get them! They will all be short, but for 2 of the girls who are tall we bought long dresses to be shortened and they were about £80 each (70 for the short one). And then my mum got student discount lol!

this is what we bought - sorry it's sideways it from my iPad!

I got mine in House of Frasers, just normal brand dresses but exactly what we were looking for and just under £100. Worth a look if you have one nearby
