Bridesmaid proposal - Junior Bridesmaid

Sophie, 28 December, 2022 at 16:52 Posted on Etiquette and Advice 0 2

Hiya...

New to Hitched! I got engaged in Aug this year and have planned my wedding for Autumn 2024.
Venue all booked, and that's about it.. Its a fairly intimate wedding with no more 40/45 people. Because of this I didn't want loads of bridesmaids but I have asked my 16 year old daughter, I would also like my 8 year old son to play a part and walk down the aisle as a page boy. He is quite shy so I thought I would also ask my 10 year old neice to be a junior bridesmaids as she will nearly be 12 at the time of the wedding so I wasn't sure if that was too old or uncool for her to be a flower girl. She can then walk with my son. She does live very far away from us so I was going to send a bridesmaid proposal through the post and ask her to call me when she receives it.I brought a box of Etsy that says her name and inside asks if she will be my bridesmaid.I just don't know what to put in it? When I ask Google for ideas it's all geared towards older bridesmaids or flowergirls.
Just looking for some inspiration of what to put in it?
I'd appreciate some ideas
Thanks

I too will be having a junior bridesmaid, she will be nearly 9 at the time of the wedding and we had the same debate re bridesmaid/ flower girl! We made her a bridesmaid in the end.

Potential junior bridesmaid items could be:
    - necklace/ bracelet- compact mirror - plastic cup and straw set- sweets- hair scrunchies - dressing gown - slippers
I hope the above gives you some ideas. My junior bridesmaid really enjoyed seeing their name on loads of bridesmaid items, it made them feel like a “grown up”. I’m sure your niece will enjoy any items you give her xx

At 10, she will love anything that makes her feel grownup. One of those 'will you help me tie the knot' necklaces would work well - simple enough not to look 'too much' on a youngster, but something that she can wear for years. If the box is bigger, and you need more stuff to fill it, then I would go for hair accessories, bath stuff etc.

You're right to head towards bridesmaid rather than flower girl. Even at 10, she's really too old for a flower girl, and by the time she's nearly 12, she definitely will be!
