Bridesmaid wearing same/similar colour as bride *Flash update with pic of me in dress* Page 2

looneysh, 19 October, 2011 at 06:48 Posted on Planning 0 24

Who likes this hates this? I have seen champagne BM dresses and have ordered them online to see how close a colour they are to my dress. My dress is ivory and if the Bm dresses are darker I think this will ok but not sure if I'll want them if they look too ivory.....

I'm in an ivory and coffee coloured dress and my bridesmaids are in cream/ivory.

I think it all depends on the style of dress, more so than the colour.

I wanted to have my bridesmaids in white tea dresses with purple sashes but everyone advised me against it.

I like the idea as long as the BM's dresses are really simple in comparison to your dress, I've seen it a few times where it's hard to spot the bride.

I think flower girls / junior bridesmaids should always be in a lighter colour, mine are going to be in white as I tried a purple dress on them and it was too " Garish "

If its done right it looks beautiful ?

I am hoping they will look good. My dress has quite a lot of detail and the BM dresses are quite simple. My flower girls will also be in ivory dresses.

I'll flash pictures. Please bear in mind my dress is 2 sizes too big and about a mile too long, so looks fuller than it will be once it's altered. I don't think the picture I have does it justice.

Your dress is beautiful. I don't know if i like the idea of the bridesmaids being so similar. But that's just a personal preference. The dresses you've chosen are lovely, as is the flower girl dress.

My gown is ivory with a claret sash, and the bridesmaids are in Claret dresses with a bit of Ivory on them.

....Is that Berketex on Bath Street?

I've done a wedding where the Bride was in Ivory and so were the Bridesmaids, they added colour with the flowers and everyone commented on how nice it looked:

Another of my Brides had the Bridesmaids in a very pale Silver:

I had an Antique Gold Dress and my Bridesmaids were in Pale Gold:

Yes I bought my dress from Berketex on Bath Street. I'm dying to go back in and try it on again.

I'm going to a wedding fayre next Sunday to see Lynsey designs about a tiara, once I've decided on that. I plan t to go and try on my dress to decide if I should buy a veil or not....

I've changed my colours so often. I was originally going to buy claret BM dresses, then decided I wanted a more summery colour as I'm getting married in Italy. Then I bought Turqiose dresses from coast last week, but now having doubts about the dresses, so have ordered these champagne ones. Hopefully this will be the last!! lol

These pictures look good, and have made me think that it would be a good idea to have similar shades. In my mind I think the light colour dresses against the rustic italian back drop will look good. The restaurant where the reception is being held is right on the lake. I think the dresses against the sparkling lake will look good.

Sherrie - I like the pictures you posted, and has made me think it will be a good idea. In my mind I think the similar tones against the rusti Italian back drop will look good. The restaurant where the reception is being held is right on the lake and I think the light coloured dresses against the sparkling water will look good.

It will! I love pale colours for bridesmaids...IMO a bright colour in stark contrast looks harsh, I much prefer something more tonal. I would do it if I were you.

I think it will look lovely. These are ours if it helps:

BM dresses will have a grey sash instead of cream to match their shoes and their dresses are knee length.

A lot of people seem to think its an odd choice, but I am about 99% sure I am going to have my bridesmaids in white, like me, with the colour simply introduced via sahes, floral hairpieces and wrist cosages.

My colours are so strong, bright royal blue and saffron that I feel the bridesmaids would stand out too much. God that sounds bridezillery as I write it LOL.

My dress is ivory and bridesmaids in champagne. When I look at the champagne it looks really light but when held next to an ivory dress, you can def see the colour difference. I love it!

I love everyone's dresses, and it has definately made me think that lighter colours are definately an option. I can't wait for the dresses I ordered to arrive!! I'll flash them when they come in.

My dresses from TKmaxx arrived yesterday. I love them!!! I just worry the 16 may be a little tight for my BM as it looks quite small.... and I don't think they come in a bigger size Smiley sad that particular BM may not come to Italy anyway as she is having a baby in January, but I don't want to put pressure on her to make a decision. So I said I would get her a dress just in case. Hopefully a seamstress can take it out a little if need be.

Here's a pic of me in one of the dresses:

I like this - I personally feel that if the BMs are in the same colour as the bride, they should have short dresses. Just my opinion!
