Brother is on day 3 of feeling unwell (maybe flu?) and wedding is in a few days… stressed and confused!

Hi everyone,

My wedding is in a few days. I have just recovered from what I think was flu.. (wasn’t covid I tested) I was smoking beforehand though so I suspect it could be part of the reason it made me feel so bad. I had a chesty cough, blocked nose, a fever for 2 nights and a killer headache. Despite my best efforts my brother who lives in the same house has been in bed for a few days now after feeling like crap (again he tested and it’s not covid). I checked on him today, he isn’t coughing anymore but his voice is very croaky and he says he feels a bit weak. He isn’t running a fever anymore. And when he did have one it didn’t last long.
We are having a small wedding but I feel guilty because he and my mum want him there but I’m just worrying about him still being contagious. I’m not sure how it works or how to know. On my wedding day it will be day 6 from first symptoms.
Can anyone offer me a bit of advice. I’m so exhausted.

Am so sorry you are both sick!i suspect yours is more due to stress and being run down I am on day 7 of some sort of bug, similar symptoms and only today am feeling human and not weak/tired I guess all you can do is see how he goes, you never know he may rally and be ok. make sure he keeps his fluids up and is taking plenty of paracetamol and resting. Keep testing and maybe he can wear a mask id you are worried about being contagious,. there are so many bugs out there at the moment so it is unavoidable but I guess you need to be cautious with having so many people together. Worse case, could he attend the ceremony, with a mask, and then leave to avoid spreading? I guess you need to weigh it up in terms of how comfortable you and the guests would feel with that. As hard as it is, you cannot do anything about it so try not to stress and take it day by day, hope you and he both feel better for the big day.
