BT: Wedding favours...for babies!!

Wife In Training, 6 August, 2014 at 10:44 Posted on Planning 0 19

There is a good chance we are going to have two newborns at our wedding, both under 6-8 weeks old. I don't want to leave them out when buying favours for the other children but genuinely don't know what to get them! I need something which isn't gender specific and doesn't cost a lot. Does anyone have any suggestions? Or are favours for babies just a ridiculous idea?

Hay, I was 1 napkin short ( god knows where it went!) and I have 1 baby for the full day who's 9 months, the other kids are ages 2-10 so I got the baby a personalised bib from eBay, it's really cute, it has a little picture of wedding bells at the top then Auntie Lizzie and Uncle ***** 'a wedding 30th August 2014.

Could you get the baby's bibs as a keep sake?

How about a lottery ticket, or a scratch card. You could say that it's (possibly) a contribution towards their college fund. Or make a joke like that. It's cheap and cheerful and just a bit of silly fun?

Clearly they wouldn't notice if they didn't have one, but I think their parents would appreciate the fact that you've thought of them. They'll be too young to play with anything, so I think personalised bibs are lovely ideas. They'll probably cost more than the rest of your favours, but if you only have a couple to buy then it shouldn't be too expensive.

The bib I got from eBay worked out around £5 including delivery, but was compleatly worth it, plus my SIL is really happy I thought of my niece to get her something as I'd left her napkin less ha!

Another vote for a personalised bib, as far as I know we will have no young babies at our wedding, kind of gutted because the bibs look fab!

Lamaze hand and feet finders would be nice! They're little rattles that are wrapped around babies wrists and feet and they rattle when the baby moves. My son loved his

Personally, I think a wedding favour for a baby who is only weeks old is OTT. To me, favours are to thank people for sharing your day with you.

    Thank you for your replies!

I really like the idea of a personalised bib with the date of the wedding on. We will have to stick to our wedding colour though because I don't know if we're expecting pink or blue guests! One of the babies is due a week before the wedding!

The Lamaze hand and foot finder is super cute and something I haven't come across before!

After reading this thread I did some research online and I've ordered a bib from http://www.oohpretty.co.uk for my niece. They had the bandanna style ones which she usually wears, and they were one of the few I found that could fit enough characters on! They're not 'weddingy' as such but they're simple and cute. Worth a look.

I was going to say a personalised bib or you could always get them a little teddy bear.

I've just realised I'll have a baby at my wedding. One of my BMs is due to give birth any day now. The bib idea is cute & I really like the bandana one. I'll put an order in once we know if it's a girl or boy x

Bolting the door after the horse has fecked off...

Those who have bought baby-favours : Lovely idea, it will be appreciated as a thoughtful and kind thing to do, plus its a little keepsake for when tot grows up and sees the pictures etc

Those who haven't: Don't fret... I wouldn't bat an eyelid. Frankly I'd be torn between pleased they invited a little'un so I didn't have to find a sitter/aggrieved I had to bring her and couldn't have a night/day off with hubs Smiley winkingSmiley winkingSmiley winking

Babies have so much luggage, it's not always handy to add to it Smiley smile

    This is lovely!

Stupid question but up until what age would you buy a baby a bib? I mean do toddlers wear bibs? Oh my word please don't laugh at me!!

Personal choice but I wouldn't go down that road after they hit 1... Yes, they wear bibs at older than that, but more likely to be a "smock" kind or something similar as opposed to your classic "baby bib".
The neckerchief/bandana kinds are pretty popular at the moment though, and as they are less "babyish" I guess most toddlers would be more inclined to wear them.

My daughter is 13months and when we eat out I order her "dry food"/"finger foods" so we don't need to use bibs.

If I were a toddler at a wedding, I would much rather scoff some personalised m&ms/lovehearts/something similarly ridden with sugar and naughtiness Smiley winking Ooh... Or one of those giant lollipops...

Man, I want to be a toddler at a wedding now! Smiley winking
