Bubbles at Wedding Reception

Charlotte, 28 August, 2020 at 14:22 Posted on Planning 0 4

The kind you blow with a wand, not the kind you drink! I've seen lots of little wedding-themed pots but I plan to DIY mine with glass jars and wire wands.

Originally I wanted bubbles instead of confetti but fiance hates the idea so that's out. I was going to put them on the seats for the ceremony, but I won't be doing that now.

Then I thought I could put pots on the tables with the favours for the meal (I've seen lots of little wedding-themed pots but I plan to DIY mine), but fiance also hates this idea, as he thinks people will blow them over the food.

So now I am looking for something else. I think they would go well whilst people are on the dancefloor, but I am stuck for how to distribute them. I don't want them just sat on a table and it ends up that they are all still there at the end of the night!

I’m having bubbles as well, my venue only allows bubbles or lavender. I’m putting them at the entrance on a table with a little sign when everyone walks in. They have to walk past them to get to the seats.

Oh don't worry about that - I have seen the bubble liquid being drunk in an attempt to blow then out of the best man's mouth !!

From my experience the bulk-buy dedicated wedding ones are not very good and will end up on your food because they don't blow bubbles very well so people just end up blowing liquid across the table.

Bubbles as confetti do not work well for a picture unless you have loads all at once and all close together and without wind.

I would warn against on the dance floor as it can make it slippy, not just from bubbles but people will spill the liquid.

My advice if you want them is to have them dotted around outside for people to pick up and play with or in a bucket near a door to outside. Get the big long ones like the ones in the cropped pictures below as these seem to work the best. Or get a bubble machine with the proper liquid, or just get the liquid and make your own but I am not sure how well wire will work because if you look at a bubble stick it has lots of groves in it to hold the liquid.

Show your fiance these photos see if it persuades him

Oh wow thanks for saying. I might skip the bubbles all together then I think.

I got proper wedding bubbles in little tubes from...... Poundland! Pack of 10 for a quid, exactly the same ones as on all the wedding supplies sites like Confetti.com and others, which were upwards of a tenner a pack!

Poundland have some great wedding bits and pieces, have to sort through the tut, though!

Using ours for photos during the post ceremony drinks, as it’s outside.

I wouldn’t use them inside for all the same reasons as others have said.
