Bubbles instead of confetti

Sandysounds, 16 April, 2009 at 00:24 Posted on Planning 0 16

More and more churches are banning the use of conventional confetti. An alternative would be to have a bubble machine that chucks out thousands of bubbles above head height.

If you were in this position, what would your choice be?

    Hello,

I love bubbles and think they look amazing in photographs.

Our venue ask for biodegradable confetti but hoping guests will use flower petals.

Have bought 8 small bottles of bubbles to use in photos as love the effect

Having bubbles would be really different and I think most people would like them althought just check they wouldn't stain people's clothes if there's going to be lots of them.

Definetely go for the bubbles...fab idea.

Well you wont get them stuck in your hair, or fall down your cleavage.....

......But a firm favourite of mine is using rice.

I love bubbles too - i'd never thought of rice - does it not hurt if it is thrown a little hard lol

Bubbles look beautiful, but why have a bubble machine? Why not give all the guests a pot of bubbles? You can get party packs from the supermarkets (tesco ones are very good, consistant bubbles - I know this because I use bubbles when photographing young children!)

They do look fantastic in photos. They're a fab alternative to confetti.

I would advise carefully about where you source your bubbles from. I have seen some small champagne bottle types where the liquid doesn't form in to bubbles(due to a too small a hole in the wand) and effectively gets spat at the couple. Some of the cheaper types also may stain, so best to buy a bottle in advance and test.

Despite these points, bubbles can be very effective although are heavily subject to wind speed, much more so than confetti, so all of the blowers may need to be on one side of you...

They do look nice, but i would be mindful of the fact that they stain clothes

We're having bubbles instead of confetti for our beach wedding, it wasn't a stipulation from the beach owners...I just thought it was more environmentally friendly and thus I wouldn't be killing any sea/beach creatures by suffocating them with coloured paper!

    Yes it does!

You can get bio degradable confetti. Talk to your vicar & they will let you know if you can throw it or not. My vicar was happy for us to have confetti, as long as we weren't right by the entrance to the church

If you do want bubbles, why not invest in a couple of these bubble machines from Early Learning Centre?? https://www.elc.co.uk/toy/bubble-machine-1/

They're great (we have one at home) and chuck out lots of bubbles, but can be battery consuming which can work out a bit expensive. You can buy big containers of their bubble mixture too. We've always used this, and never noticed it staining/ marking.

Can always be re-sold or given as presents to little bm's & pageboys. Very popular pressie!!

ETA: Always google for a discount code if buying online, there're normally some floating about!

I love bubble too. We are putting some on our tables for the kids to play with in the gardens but we have some spare so might have a few for out side the church

Just remember tho with the bubbles & Bubble machinces - dont have them near the dance floor or when the bubbles pop if the dance floor in wood ect then it becomes very very slippery.

Interesting point about the staining of clothes. Children's bottles of bubbles and cheaper liquids actually contain a dye. The high quality liquid used in bubble machines is clear, and thus doesn't leave any staines. I have used bubbles for first dances for years and have only recently started offering it for the ceremony.

Valid point about the floor getting slippery..... hence i have invested in a purpose designed non slip flooring that i can lay down. Also with first dances, I use the bubbles sparingly, just giving a short burst now and again. Outdoors, the problem doesn't exist.

Sorry I just think bubbles are really tacky. Best left for kids and pets in my opinion!

Sandysounds....I'm sure its not intentional, but its reading a bit like you started this post to tell us all you offer this as a service, which is against the rules.

Just a friendly pointer as sometimes people can get a bit irate about this! X
