Budget wedding

Meghan, 11 December, 2025 at 22:21 Posted on Planning 1 12

Hello! I'm planning my day on a tight budget and am wondering if others have done this before (ofc they have), but for those who have, what would you say is the priority to put your money into. My brain says a decent photographer but wanted to get others thoughts.

Also, any and all tips on DIY crafts for weddings would be great - would love to see photos of what you guys have done.

I would definitely agree - because your photos and wedding rings are the only things you get to keep beyond the wedding day. If you're not fussed about having the 'getting ready' and late night photos, you might be able to find a photographer that does a half day package if you are getting married out of season.

As for the rest of the budget, it really depends on what is most important to you. Bear in mind that the only things you HAVE to have are the legal bits involved in getting married - so the costs involved in giving notice and paying the registrar/minister etc. Everything else is optional, so don't get pushed into paying for stuff that isn't important to you just because everyone else has it!

I'd suggest working out the maximum amount you want to spend and then making a budget, dividing up the cash based on how important something is to you. Because as long as your guests are comfortable and well fed, they are really not going to remember things like favours, menus, invites, table decor for more than a few weeks.

Obvious saves: Home-designed invites (paper or digital - Canva is a useful tool for this), second-hand or hired clothes for bride and groom, no wedding party - or tell the bridesmaids and ushers they can wear what they want, no wedding car as long as you have someone reliable to provide transport, and skip non-essentials like wedding favours, menus and signage. If you're not fussed about the traditional wedding cake, consider buying a supermarket one and sticking a custom topper on it! Our topper was twice the price of the cake, but still came in at 1/3 of the cost of a 'proper' wedding cake. Venue hire/food tends to be one of the biggest outlays, so look at options other than traditional wedding venues. Some pubs have lovely gardens and function rooms (ours only charged for the cost of the food, not room hire, which was half the price of the cheapest local 'wedding venue') or you could look at local village/community halls and mobile caterers.

We did a lot of research before booking things in and photography was one of the 'splurge' things we decided to do. Every reddit/discussion I read online said almost universally how important it is and how no one had regrets for shelling out for the right photographer. What we decided to pass over was videography- instead going for one of those 'edityourwedding' packages which we're happy with. When budgeting- a couple of things I 100% recommend: budget for the essential 'boring' stuff first: if it's a home venue: Generators, loo's, staff. Don't forget legal costs/celebrant. If you're looking at venue's check what they include. Then go from there thinking where your heart leads you. It's really easy to get caught up in the look of it and then realise everyone won't have enough to eat or you'll be stuck with the cleanup etc. Also with that in mind make sure whatever budget is your 'top end', that you consider your 'playable' budget to be 10-15% less than this (there will almost always be hidden costs or last minute emergencies and you don't want those pushing you into debt).

Most importantly, people come for fun, and to celebrate you. Is it lovely to have beautiful table cloths? 100%. Has anyone ever left a wedding talking about the tablecloths? I doubt it. Guest experience and comfort comes above beauty I'd say (and you can get some amazing decorations second hand from bride resale groups/fb marketplace).

Have an amazing time and hope it goes well!

Planning a budget wedding is about smart choices, creativity, and prioritizing what truly matters. With simple décor, limited guests, and thoughtful planning, couples can celebrate meaningfully—just like professionals at online cv writers in UAE focus on value, clarity, and results.

Planning a wedding on a budget really comes down to prioritizing what you’ll value long after the day is over. Photography is often worth the investment, but comfort, good food, and a relaxed atmosphere matter just as much for guests. DIY décor, second-hand finds, and flexible venues can stretch your budget without losing the personal touch.

I contacted Call Girls in Dehradun when I needed a break from stress and loneliness. The conversation was simple and clear. She was polite and patient. I felt respected and relaxed. Everything felt safe and smooth. The time spent was quiet and comforting. It helped me forget daily worries. Sometimes, such small moments of company can bring real emotional peace.

You are definitely thinking in the right direction. Many couples on a tight budget say the top priority is a good photographer, because once the day is over the photos are what you keep forever. After that, people usually focus on food and guest comfort rather than expensive decor.

For DIY, popular budget friendly ideas include handmade table centerpieces, simple signage, dried or faux flower arrangements, and doing your own stationery. Thrift stores and Facebook Marketplace can also be great for decor items you can resell later. Keeping things simple and cohesive often looks better than trying to do too much.

If you are looking for general planning ideas and inspiration that people often share across communities, you can also browse discussions and tools on sites like https://gamehub.onl/ which sometimes spark creative, low cost approaches to organizing projects.

Good luck with your planning, and enjoy the process.
