Budget wedding in the snow

Eevee, 30 January, 2017 at 17:07 Posted on Honeymoons & Getting Married Abroad 0 4

Help!

I have just discovered that my partner's dream wedding is in the snow.... We have only just started saving for our wedding, and cannot yet even afford to get engaged as we are both on a limited income. I've been married before and he is a few years younger than me, so I would love to be able to give him his ultimate wedding wish.... But a quick Google search has revealed only really expensive wedding packages in places like Lapland.

First and foremost, I need a rough idea of what budget we would be looking at in order to know if this is something I can actually agree to, in terms of what we can afford (the idea itself is fine - I am just really worried about finances!). We would be paying for this completely ourselves.

Have any other brides and grooms out there gotten married in the snow? If so, where, and how much roughly did it cost (and for how many guests)?

Do you have any destination recommendations (or places to absolutely avoid!)?

Are there any websites out there that can help me with this sort of information?

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my post - I really do hope someone is able to help me! I already had my 'dream wedding' and my husband left me not lin after because he couldn't handle my long-term medical condition/disability, and now that I've found a man who absolutely completely accepts me for who and how I am, I would really like to be able to make his wish come true!

I married in Lapland and am so glad we did. It was abdolutely magical. I now know 4 other people who did it and none other regret it. I found it was much cheaper than a wedding in the UK (other than a quick registry office job). We have just been back and attended a wedding in the Ice chapel at Luvattumaa in Levi Finland for a lady who contacted me for help and became a friend. I struggled with costs if I used a weddiñg planner but what I found was I didn't need one. We eloped with just two witnesses and my friend had quite a few of her family there. If you want any questions answered or any help give me a shout. Basically the holiday was our honeymoon. And we got to see the Northern lights too. It really is a stunning place for a wedding. So beautiful. I got to arrive in a sleigh pulled by reindeer! Plus it's legally recognised by the UK so no additional cost or work required. Find my report with lots of photos below in my signature. I'm totally addicted to the Arctic now lol.

So my advise is don't book a wedding package. Books holiday and book your wedding yourself seperately. You can do it yourself easily. I did and am happy to talk you through it. Other than the holiday the wedding was on a budget. Dress was a sample sale. Warm clothes for the holiday were all bought after the ski season finished so we're in the sale. We used Inghams for the holiday. The lady who contacted me booked it all through Lapland weddings and to be honest they were useless. I was her wedding planner.

Hi there, are you still on here? I'd be very interested in asking you a few questions about how you planned your wedding? Thanks
