    Beth I've emailed you.

Sohpie - if Beth's lot are anything like my lot then there would be a riot if there was no "spread" at the party. My Gran (she's 68) was at a party recently and was telling us at the weekend that the buffet was fll of "posh stuff" like salad, rolls with wee portions of butter, carved meats and cous cous.

yes, its sourdough type, just made with belgian ale and a few other things. no commercial yeast in it at all.

i m going away tomorrow but am back next week so will put a post up - whoever wants some can shout and i ll send some.

you mean the guy from kitchen confidential? ?

this is easier, and whilst you do have to feed the bitch, its only once a week or so ?

Sounds great - any bread attempts of mine, while having been fine, have been blaaah. I think my loaf tin is too small....or I'm putting too much in, I must master this!

Does the venue have a kitchen, Beth?

If so, batch cook stovies, freeze and heat up on the night. Nothing like a plate of hot stovies and oatcakes when you've had a few ? (and cheap too)

thats how i felt. i kept fucking up, time and time again. then it just clicked after reading a couple of specific things. when you realise you dont have to have a PhD in chemistry to do it it makes it much simpler ?

I think I must be the only one that thinks it's completely do-able on that budget without too much trouble. You can get some lovely joints of meat on offer in Sains, we've recently had some lovely pork, like I've said already, cold cuts, freshly cut french sticks or some lovely soft rolls, a few really nice salads and some picky bits. I'm almost tempted to have a party and try it ?

I haven;t had time to read the whole thread, so this might have been said before - could you get a mobile fish & chips van to turn up and people could buy their own food? otherwise bacon rolls/baps/barms at about 9pm wouldn't break the budget.
