I'm more worried about him not being able to find his passport than getting home today, finger crossed it is at the hotel.

He is quite pissed off with himself and crushed that he might not be coming home today.

Well he found his passport and the airline said if he doesn't get there on time they can put him on another flight but it will be late and not to London ☹️

And now my mum has just rang and told me that my grandad is in hospital with a bad chest infection.

What next? I am wondering.

Oh bugger, I hope he finds a good alternative, can he fly with BMI? There are these two decent options that I can see on Sky Scanner:

Depart @ 15:15 - Land LHR @ 15:30 = £74

Depart @ 17:35 - Land LHR @ 17:20 = £104

We live across the river (virtually parallel) from London City Airport and I found him a flight that leaves at 16:15 from Amsterdam, I just hope he can get a seat. He would actually get back earlier than the original flight.

Edit: Bah no seats with anyone it seems, he is on standby with several airlines.

Doh I didn't think of London City - and that's the closest airport to my place too, double doh!

It might be worth having a look at flying from Rotterdam Airport. VLM fly from there to London City, think the website is www.flyvlm.com

It's easy to get from Schiphol to Rotterdam, there are direct trains from Schiphol to Rotterdam Centraal Station and then a bus or taxi to the airport.
