Sorry for the late post. I live around the corner from there. It's right next to the airport however if you don't mind a little bit of noise it is a lovely venue.

Hi, I do know it and I would avoid it like the plague if I were you. It's extremely close to the runway, and I believe there is no double glazing in the hotel rooms. On trip advisor I think you'll find some scathing reviews of the actual hotel, bedrooms and staff service.

I would have loved to have had it there as it is only a 5 minute drive from my house, but quite frankly there are lots of nicer places for the same prices around the area.

I would agree the hotel side is a little run down. But the barn is lovely. If you are looking for a barn type wedding have you considered Pledgdon Barn or Blake Hall... which I've just reviewed on my blog:

Thanks for the replies girls. Not the response I'd hoped for, never mind! Pledgedon and blake hall are both over budget. I'm really struggling to find somewhere I can afford that is still nice. Oh well the search continues!

What about: Maiden's Barn, High Barn?

What areas are you looking at? Can it be the whole of essex, herts/essex?

I've looked at quite a few places. But the trouble is I have a guest list of approx 130 inc. kids and a budget of £5000.

Maidens barn looks nice i've requested details thanks. High barn is too small though. I'm hoping to go and see smeethem hall near sudbury this week but I could only afford that if i can get a discount and a great deal on catering!

It could be anywhere in essex or herts or suffolk to be honest!

Are there lots of children in your 130? Could you cut it down to just "family children" to help with costs? Not that you have to do that, but just a suggestion.

it's a very old fashioned looking website, but the barn has been refurbished recently.

I'm doing a Wedding a Smeetham in June... lovely venue. Have you thought about a buffet instead of a sit down... it maybe cheaper.

Just to update - went to visit Little Easton Manor and loved loved loved it, but it's just too small! I'm back to the drawing board!
