Buttonholes - who has them?

Hi ladies

Who traditionally has buttonholes? I thought it was Groom, Best Man, Ushers and Father of the Bride.

Groom's sister has requested one for her husband. That's fine but by that logic, surely my brother, his wife, stepsister, her boyfriend, and groom's SIL should have one too?

What are you doing re button holes?

    Yes you are right Groom, Best Man, Ushers and Father of the Bride. Plus one more - the grooms Dad. And also a corsage for the two Mums (if you have them) and sometimes one for gran too. And then of course a button hole grandad - but not always.

    As a photographer I sometimes use the button hole as a marker to tell me they are someone important so I try and make sure I get some nice candid shots of them. Other suppliers do the same and so it could cause confusion.

    A get out clause for you is to say the button holes are only for the people in the matching suites (if you have them )

    I agree if groom's sister's partner is just a guest then they do not get a buttonhole. It's for wedding party members only. I would just explain this to her. I'm sure she will understand.
