My fiancè has fallen in love with a ring by a US jewellers. Has anyone had experience of buying from the US and know what duties are incurred?

My engagement ring was from the US and then we hade my wedding ring made at the same place (it's an odd shape so had the wedding ring cut around my engagement one). It was a bit painful logistically and we did have to pay a lot in import duties on the engagement ring (for the wedding ring, my OH was in the states at the time so that was easier). However it still worked out that we got much better quality diamonds for the price, even with the import tax.
