BYOB venues London???

sallyok, 14 August, 2013 at 07:01 Posted on Planning 0 5

Good Afternoon Ladies (and some Gents) I only got engaged last month but keen to get the planning going asap. I want to have the wedding in London although currently live overseas and will have limited trips back and will be relying on the help of my lovely family! First things first is venue Hire and that' is also the most important on my list. I think what I am after is a little ambition but cant hurt to ask if anyone has any recommendations. Criteria = 2 rooms for ceremony food and party. But more importantly ive always had it in my head that I want to do my own catering and bring my own drinks is a much, so dry venue or extremely low corkage is a must!! I want to keep this organising as stress free as possible but already seems lie a huge challenge especially as it needs to be London based!! I must have a fairy god mother out there that can help?? Thankyou!!

Maybe a community hall, school or something like that? I think you might find it difficult to find one that's got a licence for ceremonies though.

If you are going for a civil ceremony I think that you are likely to struggle to find somewhere with a licence that won't require some more money back by way of catering/booze license etc.

If you are considering a church wedding in your family parish then a church/church hall combo may be exactly what you need.

I think a hall might be what you need. Most hotels and pubs will be out of the running. Not sure which part of London you're aiming for, it's worth having everything close together, you don't want to be traversing the tube map in a white dress! If you aren't having a church wedding you can just do the registry office nearest to your reception venue. An alternative is to go just out of london and look at stuff like dry hire barns etc.

For finding licensed venues, Local Authority websites are probably your best bet. If you know the area you prefer search their website for licensed wedding venues. For example, Richmond has quite a long list: https://www.richmond.gov.uk/marriage_venues.

Not sure about now but the London Canal Museum use to allow own caterers https://canalmuseum.org.uk/venue/wedding.htm and is quite a quirky venue.

Hope you find what you are looking for & Huge Congratulations on your Engagement! x
