Camping + IBS - can it be done?

KJX, 4 August, 2008 at 22:47 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 6

MrKJX is very keen that the family try camping for next years holiday.

I suffer from IBS and am worried.

Does anyone here with IBS go camping - can it be done? Any tips (that don'y involve a cork)

Depends on what you mean by camping and, I suppose, how much you really want to go....

Dunno about IBS specifically, but I've been on rough/minimal camps with people with alsorts of physical disabilities and medical conditions that you'd normally think would preclude it.

On the comfy end of the scale I know of campsites with facilities that would put many hotels to shame.

Really sorry that I don't know much about IBS but I'm guessing you need to get to the loo quick? If so then you could request a pitch near the toilet blocks or I have seen some people with a separate mini tent with a porta loo type thing in.

    I'll google

    in one of these

just laughed hard at the description though

Surround yourself with luxury while reading the newspaper in private. We fell in love with this as soon as we saw it; a proper 100% cotton toilet tent that is waterproof and also has a draft valance around the base to stop the wind ruffling the pages of The Times. It also features a spring loaded steel frame and multiple guy points. Costs a bit extra but boy is it worth it! ?

Cheers ONE - I think it's being more than 10 yards from a loo (and one with no tent ropes and pegs etc. as 'interesting obstacles' to liven up the journey) that's making me worry.

I would ask your GP what his advice would be. I would try a weekend away and see how you get on or you could buy a small chemical toilet if the tent is big enough.

I'm sure if you phoned the campsite they would tell you how close the toilets are to the tents. Don't rely on reviews on the UK campsite website.

Camping with IBS is possible! Just plan ahead—choose campsites with restrooms, pack easy-to-digest food, and stay hydrated. A portable battery backup for home, like those from Bluetti, can help keep essential devices powered. Check out my website for more info: Bluetti Battery Backup for Home .

Tired of waking up at sunrise when you're camping?

Need a tent that’s quick to set up and keeps you dry in heavy rain?

    You’re not alone.
Most family tents fail when it comes to early morning light, fast setup, and real waterproofing.

That’s where the 4 Person Blackout Camping Tent changes the game.

It’s made for families who want peaceful sleep, even when the sun’s up.
It’s built for campers who hate wasting time setting up gear.
And it’s designed to handle rough weather without leaking.

Let’s break down what makes it worth your money.

    Blackout tech = better sleep

Ever tried sleeping in a bright tent at 6 AM?
    It’s impossible.

This tent uses blackout fabric to block out up to 90% of sunlight.
That means cooler mornings, no harsh glare, and actual rest—especially for kids or late risers.
It also gives you privacy when changing or napping during the day.

    Built for real weather

    Most cheap tents say “waterproof.”
Then they soak through in a single thunderstorm.

    This one is different.
It’s got taped seams, a durable rainfly, and a waterproof rating built for real downpours.

    No more soggy gear.
No more panicked midnight patch jobs.
    Just dry, reliable shelter.

Fast setup, even for one person

Nobody wants to spend 30 minutes struggling with poles and clips.
This 4 person blackout camping tent has a smart dome design that sets up fast.

Even one person can pitch it in under 10 minutes.
That’s more time for campfires, hikes, or just relaxing.

    Comfortable for small families

    Fits four people easily.
You’ll have room for two adults and two kids—or two campers with gear.

The floor is thick and raised to keep moisture out.
You get storage pockets inside for phones, lights, or snacks.
There’s a big D-shaped door for easy entry and exit, even in the dark.

Why people are switching to blackout tents

    Here’s what most users say:

    • “Best sleep I’ve had while camping.”

    • “Didn’t overheat like my old tent.”

    • “Stayed dry after 2 nights of nonstop rain.”

    • “Setup was simple—I did it solo.”

    Blackout tents aren’t just hype.
    They solve real camping problems.

    Final thoughts

If you’ve been hunting for a tent that’s:

    • Easy to set up

    • Keeps you dry

    • Actually blocks sunlight

    • And works for a small family

Then the 4 Person Blackout Camping Tent is worth checking out.

    Make camping easier.
    Sleep longer.
    Stay dry.

That’s what this tent is built for.
