Can anyone recommend a make-up artist in West Yorkshire

MISSMAYFLOWER, 1 of March of 2011 at 13:18 Posted on Planning 0 17

I had a make-up trial and really wasn't impressed with the results. I'm considering doing the makeup myself but thought I might give it one more go with a make-up artist. Or I would if I could find one!

Just wondered if anyone knew of a good mobile makeup artist covering West Yorkshire. Hopefully one who isnt too expensive as well!

thank you

Unfortunately my daughter has also tried quite a few and were all just OK but felt she could do better herself so any recommendations who could come to Holmfirth would be appreciated here too!

    I am having Lauren Sally.

    http://www.laurensally.co.uk/

She is brilliant, looking at her portfolio, no two brides are the same, and having spoken to her, she specialises in airbrushing and make up for television and photography. Although she's very reasonably priced (£50 deposit which covers the trial and £70 / bride and £50 / bridesmaid or mother on the day) she is highly regarded and done a lot of make up for photo shoots and recently did the bridal make up at the wedding of Sarah Louise Stourton, the eldest daughter of Edward Stourton, 27th Baron Mowbray. Prince William was an Usher at the wedding. I could not believe she was doing MY make-up!

Am in exactly the same position; had two wedding trials and wasn't happy with either of them so ended up going to the Benefit counter at Debenhams for a make-up lesson and will now be doing my own! It's frustrating as I'm not very good at doing my own make-up and am quite stressed about doing it myself. Is it just West Yorkshire that has this problem? ?

It does seem to be a major problem around here, I thought it would be easy!

I went to Estee Lauder and loved how they did my make up so I may be like you whiteroserachel doing my own

I had a trial done at the Estee Lauder counter at the White Rose Centre and the girl who did it happened to mention that she also works as a freelance make-up artist. I can't remember her name (possibly something beginning with C?) but it might be worth going to ask if that's the kind of thing you're after? I didn't take her up on it as I prefer the Benefit stuff but I seem to recall her prices weren't too bad either.

Thats where i had my trial done - I wonder if its worth calling her to see. Thanks for that tip, I'll check her name tonight and then I'll give them a call.

Another vote for Lauren Sally here. She's a friend of mine and as well as being a totally amazing makeup artist, she's a lovely lady.

I'm having Sharon Hart (www.sharonhartmakeup.co.uk). I had my trial with her recently and she's just lovely. She completely understood that I don't wear a lot of make up on a daily basis and gave me a really natural look which is exactly what I wanted. She is based in Harrogate but I know she will travel.

Even my mum had nothing bad to say... which trust me is VERY good! ?

I'm having Lauren Sally too, I've not had the trial yet so have no first hand experience, but her site looks good!

I tried to book Lauren as well, but she would only do it if there was a minimum of 5 people on the day, I've booked this lady here https://kosmetikoclinic.co.uk/ I've not had my trial yet but my friend has used her in the past, the prices are very reasonable. The night before my wedding she is coming to my house so that me, chief bridesmaid, my sister and my mum can have manicures, pedicures etc, a pamper party really.

Well through all the recommendations i haev just been on the Laurensally website and emailed her for more detilas, her photos look amazing....

But if she only does a minimum of 5 people then i am stuffed as there will only be me and my mum as my bridesmaids are doing their own (due to budget!) ?

I was going to recommend Lauren Sally too as she's a great mua. Her booking criteria is different now and it's 2+ people on the day now. Juliet x

Laura Gingell did the Wedding makeup for me and my two bridesmaids. The makeup was flawless and I felt gorgeous. Even my bridesmaid who is very picky about her makeup was very happy. I would recommend Laura to anyone and she was so lovely too. She's an actual makeup artist as oppose to a beauty salon doing makeup on the side and was really good value. I liked that she did a lot of photography makeup for fashion and commercial so she would know how to get it to look good on camera.

I had two very disappointing make up trials and was about ready to give up but figured that it's probably the only day in my life that I'll have my make up doe professionally so thought I'd try again. I had a lovely trial on Saturday and although a bit further north than you I just wanted to say that there are definitely some great make up artists out there. I had the Air base make up on Saturday and it was great - it didn't look or feel too heavy but gave really good coverage and you can build it up slowly to get the coverage that you want. Fingers crossed that your next trial is much better!
