Can I have different rings??

teapotty, 5 May, 2012 at 16:51 Posted on Planning 0 2

My engagement ring is 18ct white gold and the wedding ring I want is 9ct white gold. Is it ok to have these two different standard rings next to each other??

I don't know about white gold but when I tried a 9ct WR next to my 18ct yellow gold ER you could see the difference and it didn't look right, so I found an 18ct one in the style I liked.

Where you wear 2 rings together they recommend that you have both rings in the same purity e.g. both 18ct or both 9ct. The reason being the 9ct is harder than the 18ct & over time it will wear away the 18ct. Particularly true for white gold because it will wear off the rhodium plating even quicker.

Could you get a ring made in the style you want but in 18ct white gold? Have a look at Smooch - they have loads of different styles & will make them in any metal. They are coming out to us in June but I think other B2Bs on here can recommend them.
