Can you tumble dry trainers?

Maxi, 29 April, 2008 at 23:12 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 7

My thoughts are, no. Surely the leather will crack under the heat?

OH is currently tumble drying two pairs of trainers, after washing them in the dishwasher (a top tip he got apparently).

I think its going to end in a tantrum, either me with the tumble dryer going on the blink or him with two pairs of ruined precious trainers.

    Ah ok, thanks.

    We'll let the experiment continue then.

    I'm pondering at my indifferent OH and now wondering whether he is not actually bothered as to the result of the experiment, either;

    1. He gets nice clean trainers
    2. His 'old' trainers are ruined, so he really needs to buy more

    hhmmm, I smell something and it aint burning trainers [V]

    I'm not sure I'd want my H's sweaty trainers in my dishwasher![xx(]

    I've bunged 'em in the washing machine before now though, but never tried tumble drying - I always stuff them with kitchen roll and stick them on the radiator!

    I have dried them before no problem

    but beware if they have an air bubble (like Air Max) it will blow up much bigger and pop out the side of the trainer and look ridiculous ?

    If they're just for wearing then maybe. If they are for actual training in then you shouldn't even was them- the heat & detergent destroys them.

    I never wash trainers in the washing machine as my mother had to have her drum replced several times after my brother washed his trainers in her machine.

    I'd certainly not tumble dry them for the same reason and also because of the amount of energy that would require.

    Plus I'm sure that if they are leather they would crack.
