I have the same question, am asking my venue tomorrow, we are having 90 guests and we have to choose 3 different ones per guest, i am wondering if they have one of each or more, i think its bloody expensive if they only have one!! its £6 for the 3!!!

Totally off the top of my head but I'm sure I've read allow 5-6 per person.

You could try this canape calculator from Waitrose: https://www.waitrose.com/

But I'd also say talk to your caterer, they'll have a good idea of how many you'll need.

We allowed 5 per guest, which would allow for some folk not wanting that many, giving more to others and some folk being otherwise engaged in drinking, photos etc. we found it was more than enough.

I didn't get any, cos it was done during the photos! : (

We are having 3 per guest - don't want them getting too full as the meal is only 1 hour later!!

    Hi

When a client wants canapes we budget for a minimum of 5 per person if they are on a limited budget. If money isn't an object then obviously more, about 9-10 per person. I have done weddings where we've had a really good amount of canapes, but didn't have a starter and went straight into mains which helps with the budgets, it depends on timings and what the canapes are.

At the end of the day, it really comes down to budget. I would say though that £6 for 3 canapes per person maybe about right as long as they are good sized canapes, mini yorkshire puddings with roast beef and horseradish, chicken satay, french bread crostini with tapenade or salmon and cream cheese, as opposed to the small filled canape tartlets.

    Hope that helps

    Ruth
