Candy Buffet Quantities

SunnyPinkConfetti310, 21 June, 2015 at 20:48 Posted on Planning 0 7

I'm doing a DIY Candy Buffet instead of favours, and will probably have about 120 guests. Does anyone know what quantity of sweets I need to order? Online suggestions vary between 1/4 and 1/2 pound per person, but some sweets are sold by weight, some are by volume of the tub they're in and others are with x amount in the tub which makes it difficult to know if what I've got in mind is enough.

Are there any brides who can share their experiences?

I've just thought how many jars I will buy and then how much it takes to fill each one.

But how do you know you've bought enough jars and sweets to go around?

I struggled with quantities too. I've just ordered 8 different types of sweets, weighing between 750 and 900 g each. I'm hoping that will be enough for my lot (we anticipate about 70 guests).

We had very similar numbers to you, around 120. I went to makro and spent £60 or thereabouts. I can't give any more guidance than that im afriad. As you say some are done in weight and some are sold in quantities. So I'd advise you spend around £60 and you should be fine.

I would probably check bag weights for sweets in the supermarket and budget for a couple of small bags/one large bag per guest with a few extras - sorry not very precise!

do your venues all allow candy buffets? I know ours has a surcharge for cheese wedding cake but not sure about candy buffet, something I need to Sk.

you might know this already but Asda have bought out a new party range with jars, scoops etc which might be of use.

We'll also have around 120 guest and have bought 12 of these jars from asda (£1 each) and bought haribo sweets plus smarties and mini eggs from eBay. Haribo tubs were £3.99 and each tub will fill a jar. http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/121547825602?limghlpsr=true&hlpv=2&ops=true&viphx=1&hlpht=true&lpid=108&chn=ps&device=m&rlsatarget=&adtype=pla&crdt=0&ff3=1&ff11=ICEP3.0.0-L&ff12=67&ff13=80&ff14=108&ul_ref=http%253A%252F%252Frover.ebay.com%252Frover%252F1%252F710-134428-41853-0%252F2%253Fipn%253Dicep%2526icep_id%253D67%2526mtid%253D1673%2526kwid%253D1%2526crlp%253D50600204586_563391%2526icep_item_id%253D121547825602%2526itemid%253D121547825602%2526icep_meta_categ_id%253D11700%2526icep_etrs%253DY%2526icep_epid%253D-999%2526icep_ctlg%253D-999%2526icep_cond%253DNew%2526targetid%253D75951446466%2526rlsatarget%253D%2526rpc%253D0.12%2526rpc_upld_id%253D51168%2526device%253Dm%2526icep_msku_flag%253Dy%2526icep_cbt%253Dn%2526adtype%253Dpla%2526gclid%253DCNWWofSNpMYCFerjwgod6RIA4g%2526srcrot%253D710-134428-41853-0%2526rvr_id%253D854210026140&ul_ref=http%3A%2F%2Frover.ebay.com%2Frover%2F1%2F710-134428-41853-0%2F2%3Fipn%3Dicep%26icep_id%3D67%26mtid%3D1673%26kwid%3D1%26crlp%3D50600204586_563391%26icep_item_id%3D121547825602%26itemid%3D121547825602%26icep_meta_categ_id%3D11700%26icep_etrs%3DY%26icep_epid%3D-999%26icep_ctlg%3D-999%26icep_cond%3DNew%26targetid%3D75951446466%26rlsatarget%3D%26rpc%3D0.12%26rpc_upld_id%3D51168%26device%3Dm%26icep_msku_flag%3Dy%26icep_cbt%3Dn%26adtype%3Dpla%26gclid%3DCNWWofSNpMYCFerjwgod6RIA4g%26srcrot%3D710-134428-41853-0%26rvr_id%3D854210026140&_mwBanner=1

Thanks ladies, that helps a lot. I've got some jars like them from ikea and I've got some my friend's cousin gave me after her wedding. I had in mind that I'd spend £100 on sweets so it's good to know that I don't even need to spend that much! I might do anyway, so we've hot loads of choice, but I'm glad I shouldn't need to worry about running out!

I'm glad you asked... I've just been looking on the bookers website and I've written down 24 different sweets that we want hahaha. Maybe a little too much! Lol x
