Can't find a venue I like! What to do? Help!

crao, 10 October, 2017 at 19:08 Posted on Planning 0 1

Please help! I can't find a wedding venue that I like and I just dont

know what to do.

My dream would be to get married and have the reception at home

in the garden but of course it's not possible to have a legally binding

ceremony there.

i don't want to have the legal ceremony at the local registry office

on another day, nor do I want to split the day by having the ceremony

and reception in different locations.

I can't find a local venue which would provide anything similar

to the ideal scenario at home and we also want to a small number of

guests and relatively low cost.

does anybody have any advice or ideas? I would be so grateful to hear

anyones thoughts.

To be honest you've pretty much ruled out every option...

If you really wanted it at home you would need to sign the papers at the registry office beforehand and have a celebrant on the day.

Your other option would be to have the service at a church, registry office or hotel (or other licensed venue) and then have the reception at your home

Some hotels do "intimate" wedding packages which may be worth looking into and you can get a list of all registered venues online. These normally include the ceremony and a wedding breakfast for a small number of guests.

Otherwise you would need to trawl through all the registered venues and see who would do the service you require

As above what you want doesnt exist, maybe eloping or having a small wedding abroad might work as other countries may have more lapsed laws where you could hire a house and do it there
