Cardiff Hen Do!

*J9*, 8 July, 2013 at 21:34 Posted on Planning 0 13

I've decided on Cardiff for my hen do, and have booked a hotel in the centre.

Can anyone give me some ideas on good bars / clubs to go to?

Some of my dance teacher friends took me away for an 'extra' hen weekend in Cardiff recently and planned an evening which was lots of fun, Obviously what we did might not be to your taste but we had dinner at https://www.demiros.com/ which has a menu featuring Italian, Spanish and Welsh cuisine and has waiters that sing opera now and then. It also has a piano lounge adjacent and if you eat at the restaurant you can get VIP tickets to it (basically you get straight in and a reserved table) and there's lounge entertainment and cocktails etc.

We then got a taxi into the town centre and had the cheesiest of cheesy nights out in Reflex dancing to the 80's tunes! Classy - no. Fun - yes!

On the way there we went to the beach at Barry Island as it was where I went as a child and we had chips on the seafront and we just chilled on the Sunday (although a few more hardy souls without hangovers went for a nice walk around the bay).

What kind of night would you like? More laid back where you can have a chat and a boogie? Or a full on nightclub? Where is the hotel? I can tell you the best places close to there.

Probably a bit of both! We're there for 2 nights so probably a clubby night on the Friday and a slightly more chilled evening on the Saturday as we'll have to drive home on the Sunday!

We're staying at the best Western maldron hotel near thw train station. Any tips would be much appreciated thanks

Cardiff is COOL! I went to Uni there- but that was 13 years ago so I can imagine things have changed a lot since then...

Whatever you do, have fun! ?

I would suggest Oceana if you want the big nightclub, but it is huuuge. If you are going for a hen night check if you can get VIP entrance and your own table, or if they have a policy against hen parties (they shouldn't).

For the Saturday I would suggest Revolution or Walkabout. Both have affordable drinks and a good atmosphere. I love Rev's and always have the lucky dip shots...very funny when someone picks the chilli one Smiley tongue

Also found this site for hen activities - not sure if you would be interested in any of them:

    HI,

This is a great choice. I went here for my hen do in June and it was fabulous. We booked through Maximise and had VIP tickets for specific bars and clubs.

I would recommend- Vodka Revs (Opps castle) great atmosphere and staff especially during our cocktail session, GLAM now i love this club, lots of different music, dance rooms and really good atmosphere open until late.

I went to Tiger Tiger it was really good firstly, but then a huge fight broke out with a few guys by our table and one was knocked unconsious blood everywhere and all of our drinks knocked to the ground, glass shard in my leg and the staff were terrible. It may have been a one off but i would never go there again.

Anyhow back to positives, we went to Retro as well and got 3 free bottles of champs was so nice of them and we had a good night even though it was cheesy music but still had a bit of house and rnb. I am very jealous that you are going because me and the girls would love to go back again. Honestly it was such fun Smiley smile

    Have a fabulous time xxxxx

I live in Cardiff! Depends what you're after in terms of a night out - I would personally steer clear of Oceana on a weekend. The bars on Mill Lane are all good, and you've got Kapu there which also has the Ladybird club upstairs (think it's called Ladybird anyway???) which has got a Hawaiian theme. Vodka Revolution on Castle Street used to be my regular haunt when I was 18 - 21! But at 25 I now feel way too old so that gives you an idea of the crowd that goes there, the music is usually good though. Vodka Revolucion de Cuba has more of a mixed crowd, it's over by the Friary. If you're looking for more of a traditional cheesy hen night out though, can't go wrong with Retros, all they play is 90's music!
