Care instructions 'do not pile whilst damp'

Diamond Star Halo, 31 August, 2008 at 22:00 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 7

This might be a really stupid question, but what does this info from a garment care label actually mean? It's only something I've seen written on them fairly recently.

I've never seen that before. What kind of garment was it on? Surely it's common sense not to pile stuff while it's damp if you don't want it to smell sour.

Well, yes, I also think it's rather bloody obvious not to put damp clothes in a pile if you don't want them to stink. I can't understand the need for a label to tell me not to do this. Which makes me wonder if it means something else.

Have seen this label on a few things, only specific one I can remember was a pair of my son's trousers (synthetic fabric, tracksuit trouser type things).

Piling on fabric is when you get the fuzzy little balls forming. If they mean do not remove them I would have thought they would say de-pile.

    No idea.

Best care instructions I've ever seen -

do not wash, do not dry clean, do not iron, do not tumble dry, do not sponge clean.

(so how the bloody hell am I supposed to clean it then?!)

But by far the best thing on this label? On the bottom...

    "Have fun washing!"

    Cheeky cnuts.

Best care label I have ever seen is here

It was apparently made by a Seattle based laptop bag manufacturer, who decided to add the last bit in the French translation
