Catering pulled out!!

Charlotte, 3 November, 2021 at 14:25 Posted on Planning 0 6
So we booked our venue and with the venue came catering company. There was a wedding planner, catering, dj with smoke machine and lighting, table centre pieces, table and chair covers with the sashes. The catering company literally included everything. So they've called saying they now no longer are working under our venue, and it's now up to the venue to find another company. I called the venue, to clarify money and if all I arranged will be getting covered. He said that he is uncertain on what the new company covers and if there will be a price change.....I know we have a year. But we had everything booked, now I just have a venue with a registrar at the moment. Should I be concerned? TIA

As this has just happened I would allow them some time to confirm what the new service will be, but bear in mind, you have a contract to include certain items and services, and if they cannot provide this the contract is legally frustrated and realistically you should not have to pay more to achieve the same result. The venue should have insurance to cover them for such instances and if sourcing replacement services comes at additional cost for current bookings they can claim this loss on their insurance, they should not be passing the cost on to you. I would tell them they have 45 days to provide you with the new offering and that you are not prepared to cover any additional costs unless the services are enhanced. similarly, if they can no longer provide what was agreed you need to negotiate a cost reduction for the reduced service. Try not to stress too much, you do have time and you need to give them an opportunity to provide an alternative. Stand your ground, wishing you all the luck in getting it sorted

Ooh no sorry I couldn't help by have a look at the venues on here also if you have a good sized back garden for the ammount of your guests you could try that, that's what I'm doing planning is so much hassle as it is never mind a reception venue needed to be booked
