Celebrant or registrar

Lyndsay, 25 February, 2025 at 18:21 Posted on Planning 0 3
Hi me and my partner are really struggling to decide between having a celebrant or a registrar marry us - please tell us the pros and cons of both and what other people have decided on!

If you're getting married in England, then you'll need to go with the registrar if you want a legal wedding. Nothing to stop you having the basic registry office ceremony beforehand and then booking a celebrant to do a personalised ceremony for you later on though, if that's what you'd like.

Alternatively, if you're getting married at a wedding venue rather than the registry office, there's nothing to stop you having the registrar turn up to do the legal bit and then carrying on with a celebrant led ceremony after.

We're having a celebrant wedding as our venue doesn't have a licence. We're doing a 2+2 (us and witnesses) legal bit the day before, but our celebrant led day will be our wedding, where we say our vows and exchange rings.

In block blast , you are given several blocks at a time, usually displayed in a waiting area below the grid.
