Ceremony ideas please!

Walshy66, 26 August, 2020 at 19:40 Posted on Planning 0 1
Hi, we are going to have a registrar and a celebrant officiate at our wedding next year. The registrar has to do the legal bit first so we just wondered if anyone else had used both, and if so how they managed the flow of the ceremony? Open to any ideas!

The only wedding's I have photographed like this was when they had a hand fasting ceremony as well. People usually have the legal part done on a very low key basis days before and then concentrate on the celebrant lead ceremony as the actual wedding with all the guests.

The main reason people do this is because restrictions on the civil ceremony (registrar ) wedding which in England do limit you to the time and where you can get married, outside in the open being the main one.

Are you planning to do both in the same place/room. Or having the legal part then moving outside for the celebrant. I ask because the usual "architecture" of a civil and a celebrant lead wedding are very similar and I worry that to your guests it may seem a little bit like doubling up for no reason.

The handfasting ceremony was completely different and a new experience for most of the guests. Also I have shot many weddings where they directly had a religious blessing - clergy lead straight after the civil. This when in a large country home they either have a chapel or Church on the grounds - again completely different to the civil.
