We were sent a 52 page booklet by our celebrant to help us choose readings & the wording of the ceremony. This is the section for readings from children (sorry its rather long!):

    INCLUDING CHILDREN IN YOUR CEREMONY

Can be inserted before vows if couple have children or step children

    .

Ask about other examples for including children in ceremonies too.

    C001

    for older children

This is not only the marriage of Bride and Groom but also the joining together of a family (address this to the children mentioning their names), they promise to be there when you need them and to offer advice if you ask for it. Should you ever need to talk, they will be there to listen. If you ever need a shoulder to lean on, they will be there to support you. They encourage you to always be yourselves and never be afraid to face life's challenges, but embrace them in the knowledge that it is a learning process to gaining wisdom.

If it is at all possible, they will help you to attain your dreams and aspirations in life. Their home is always open to you and they want you to know they love each of you very much.

    C002

    for younger children

Before they make their own vows Bride and Groom have asked me to say a few words to the children on their behalf.

To (children’s names), Bride and Groom promise to help you to attain your dreams and aspirations in life and to maintain a loving home where you and your friends will always be welcome. They want you to know that they love you very much.

    C003

Before they make their marriage vows, Karen & Brendan would like to dedicate a few words to their son, Ryan in recognition of the special gifts he has already brought to their lives.

Karen and Brendan promise to be there when you need them and to offer advice when you ask for it. Should you ever need to talk, they will be there to listen. Should you ever need a shoulder to lean on, they will be there to support you.

If it is at all possible, they will help you to attain your dreams and aspirations in life. They will encourage you to grow into who you choose to become and they want you to know they love you very much.

Actually Teal I really like CO1 as we both have daughters from previous marriage so this isn really appropriate. Think I will ask if our registrar can include this! Thank you for mis-reading1

There are some good ones on here:

Probably more AA Milne ones would be appropriate if you have a look x

AA Milne, Now We Are Six - The Morning Walk

When Anne and I go out a walk,

We hold each other's hand and talk

Of all the things we mean to do

When Anne and I are forty-two.

And when we've thought about a thing,

    Like bowling hoops or bicycling,

Or falling down on Anne's balloon,

We do it in the afternoon.

How about 'Oh the places you'll go' by Dr Seuss. Saw that at a wedding a couple of years ago and it was a lovely, surprising choice!

edit- just a section of it, not the whole thing!
