Hi,
I am a Dutch national and have lived in the UK for the past 11 years. I am getting married in April and I never realised that the Dutch government doesn't allow you to change your surname because of marriage in a passport. I have been trying to understand what my options are and have read some bits around being able to change everything (like drivers licence etc ) whilst still having my maiden name in my passport? Does anyone have experience with this, is this true? I believe I can get a new Dutch passport with an addition saying "married to .."
If I can manage without changing my passport I think that feels like the best solution for now. If not I am considering applying for a British passport, however I would risk losing my Dutch passport as they don't always like people having dual nationalities and I don't qualify for the reasons I have been reading so far.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks
