Charged twice in HMV. Not a leg to stand on right?

francesca, 31 December, 2008 at 14:27 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 9

H bought me a CD on christmas eve. The place was mental and he just entered his pin without checking properly. He's just looked at his bank account and they've charged him twice. He dug out the receipt and they've scanned the cd twice. It's not a massive amount but it's annoying.

He should of checked the amount before he entered his pin, so it's his fault isn't it? I tried to ring them but it just rings out.

Definitely worth a shot, apart from anything else why would you buy 2 copies of the same CD? They might agree to refund you on a goodwill basis.

I'd say definitely worth a shot. I don't know how they scan things in HMV, but surely you'd register a multiple purchase by scanning it once and then entering the quantity into the till?

I'm not sure who it is, he rang. It was the number on the receipt. It's not local to us or I'd send him in.

I'll get him to keep trying. Thanks x

If it's a chain like HMV, it shouldn't matter which branch he goes into, should it?

Try to sort it out with the shop first (customer services) if not raise it as a dispute with your bank

    Hi Francesca

i work in HMV. If u have receipt just pop into the store and they should refund it no problem.

it is still quite mental so wouldnt hold any hope of getting through on phone. best chance is 9am or just before it.

Will it matter that it's not the same store? I could try to get to the Trafford Centre with it.
