Charity Wedding Favours

BrideCummins14, 26 March, 2013 at 11:50 Posted on Planning 0 16

Hi all - I want all these fancy little favours and now thinking about it (after going to a wedding this weekend) do many people even keep the favours? I know some of us girls do but I just think it may be a waste. I am now thinking about getting Charity Badges.

I was wondering if anyone has had these and if anyone has had one for an Autistic charity? If so let me know - I did google for a while but couldn't find any for Autisim x

If you mean something like a pin to raise awareness then yes Autism Awareness does have one

Let me know if you need anything else idea wise as I work with Autism

I am having lottery tickets from a local children's hospice-so not only will the charity benefit but guests have a chance of winning some money. Plus the tickets will be able to be slipped into handbags/pockets. I know I always have good intentions of taking favours home, but if they don't fit in my bag they invariablely get forgotten ?

Oh brilliant - those pin badges are exactly what I was thinking - will take a look at those online with OH tonight - if I need any more info I will let you know.

The lottery tickets sound fun - I totally agree, I intend on taking favours home but either eat them striaght away or forget them - oops

Convenient/charity favours are deffo the way forwards, it's nice when it means something to you and it's less wasteful, I'm guilty of leaving favours behind although once it was a pocket mirror which was pretty useful. Even if someone forgets their charity badge, the money has been donated so that's great Smiley smile

I agree I think that they are perfect as if you were to have some chocs they will cost the same and be gone, but the pin badge will be kept.

here is one from a wedding I had that did just that.

Very nice - I think they look good and more personal if it's a chairty that has some affect on you.

I looked at the autism ones you mentioned but £5.99 per badge is quite pricey (I know it's for chairty) but was expecting £1-£2 per badge....I have 130 guests approx...ends up quite pricey

We had cancer research ones at £2 per pin. Most were taken and loads of people put them on, it was nice to see.

I actually love the ones Bill has posted (Incidentally Bill, where were you when I was raking Leicestershire for photographers last summer???!!!! TSK!)

I think that favours are a very nice personal touch if you have the time to make them or the money to get them, but I have to be completely honest and say that I am really not sure that people really value chocs and miniatures and I have seen them left on wedding tables which makes me feel bad for the bride.

I really like the idea of doing charity ones. At a recent wedding they did them for Parkinsons, they made their own little placename style cards and put on them that a donation had been made to Parkinson's UK on behalf of guests. then during the speeches, the boys organised a sweepstake on how long the speeches would last and everyone bet a couple of quid - the winner gave all the money to Parkinsons - it was very touching but also quite fun.

Two ideas: Could you put a note on the menu cards that a donation has been made to charity? Saves making extra placenames or anything for them? Then you wouldnt need to pay for the little badges and decide yourself how much to donate?

I am thinking of buying boxes of 10 macaroons and putting one box on each table with a thankyou note and asking people to take one and pass them on! Is that a bit cheap? Costs a lot less than individual ones!!!!!

I think it's a lovely idea favours for charity, I'm considering the NSPCC ones however if they are more than £1 each I may make a donation and put a note or gift tag saying to replace favours we have donated. ( I've over 100ppl)

i do like the idea of giving the ladies the pin badges tho I'm sure the men wld b happy with a chocolate or mints!lol

We have been looking at the cancer research pins, you can order them with customised cards that can come pre-printed and cut or a computer file you can download and print yourself. They are a suggested donation of £2 each or £2.50 for designer badge xxx

We are having charity pins for our wedding favours aswell. We going with alzheimers society for the men and Parkinson's disease for the women. Our family has been affected by both so liked the idea of it being in the wedding as a reminder

We had Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research pins, with little cards which doubled up as place cards, explaining that a donation had been made. I don't have a picture of our cards but this is the pin:

They asked for a donation of £1 per pin but I think I gave them a bit more than that.

We've decided to go with the charity favours too-I know a lot of people don't take favours home, so we decided to do the cancer research donations, we get a pin with it which people can take home- at least if they leave it I know the money went to a cause very close to my family's heart!

Now we have decided to do this we can't decide what charity to choose - I think picking two will be nice. My preference would be Alzheimer's Society and an Autistic charity (struggling with Autistic pin badges though)

Both charities mean something to us and people in the room will know that

If we can't get autism badges we will go with NSPCC or GOSH
